  • Pick One

We could potentially play WSU two more times...if we had to lose one...which one would benefit us better?

I would rather win AT WSU and lose to them in the Conf. Champ.

From an RPI basis, winning at their place would be better than in St Louis.

Lose at WSU and win in STL.

As much as it would be nice to get the conference title, losing on the road at WSU doesn't look as bad as losing at a neutral site.

I've asked myself this several times over the past week. And yes, winning both would obviously be the best. But if I had to pick one... I'd pick this Saturday.

And they owned it -- all of it -- for the world to see. Like men. Like leaders. Like champions -- in a way no tournament bracket could ever define."

Really? I would think it would be equal.

And I'd pick: Win MVC Tournament. Roll into March on a win.

We don't need to win STL to make the tourney and winning in the round house would be extra sweet! I caught two games when I lived in ta-town and we lost them both!

I want Saturday more than most!

i agree with sivert....go into march with happy feelings off a win...i guess the first goal should be to win a game in St. louis first...our senior class has yet to do that.

                      Emphasis added

For Division 1 NCAA Men's basketball, the WP factor of the RPI was updated in 2004 to account for differences in home, away, and neutral games. A home win now counts as 0.6 win, while a road win counts as 1.4 wins. Inversely, a home loss equals 1.4 losses, while a road loss counts as 0.6 loss. A neutral game counts as 1 win or 1 loss. This change was based on statistical data that consistently showed home teams in Division I basketball winning about two-thirds of the time.[2] Note that this location adjustment applies only to the WP factor and not the OWP and OOWP factors. Only games against Division 1 teams are included for all RPI factors. As an example, if a team loses to Syracuse at home, beats them away, and then loses to Cincinnati away, their record would be 1-2. Considering the weighted aspect of the WP, their winning percentage is 1.4 / (1.4 + 1.4 + 0.6) = 0.4117

                        Re: Pick One

Eh, I'd say a win at Arch Madness. I'll admit it's kind of a selfish decision, since I'm heading to St Louis for it, but it would be nice to head into the dance with a win too. And technically if we win 1 and lose 1 it's the same RPI-wise. Either +1.4 and -1 winning in Wichita, or -.6 and +1 winning in St Louis, meaning +.4 either way, right?

win Saturday and we are all over sportscenter. We will be the talk of college basketball. I think that's more important at this point in time.

Right, so L, W would give us:
                              Numerator: 0+1
                              Denominator: 0.6+1
                              0.625
And W, L would give us:
                              Numerator: 1.4+0
                              Denominator: 1.4+1
                              0.5833

                              Huh.
