No mention of time, opponent or the fact its on ESPN2.

I've seen about 4-5 tweets about getting student tickets for UNC and how those are now sold out but nothing else in the past 10 days about this game.

Wow. I hadn't even noticed they hadn't put the game time. Doh.

Considering the great countdown they had on twitter last week leading up to Saturday's game it's very unfortunate to not have seen much about this game. Such a unique opportunity and our community seems oblivious to it...and confused by it (What?! 7 am? No it's 7 pm! Why would there be a 7 am game? What's ESPN???) Ok maybe I made the last part up but still.

UNI marketing of sporting events has always been a weak link, along with game-day operations/promotions/concessions for football.

In all seriousness, more folks in the AD and marketing departments should give this board a weekly peek. I would think that this place would be a decent arrow in their quiver - if *we* the passionate are concerned about it ...

To their credit, I think they really do a good job with the fun activities during the breaks of basketball games. Much better than Iowa State, except for the occasional fantastic half-time entertainment, like the dogs last year. Paper airplanes into the hula hoops is a classic.

As a Marketing alum, this really frustrates me because I know we have the talent from the students and faculty in the Marketing program to do a lot of great things. A lot of students would welcome the opportunity to work on specific branding and advertising campaigns as it helps their resume and refines their skills (I'm not talking about internships). As others have mentioned, they can do A LOT with very little. Remember that all the business college computers are fully equipped with the Adobe suite and all other software necessary to create digital media. A program like this can work in tandem with our more expensive in-house programs and agency driven programs. At the end of the day- the point is we have the capability to get our message in front of everyone we need to, but we aren't doing it.

Maybe the Alumni committee can bring this up? Is that even still being used? I haven't heard about it in awhile. It was a great idea but I was hoping it would come with some opportunities for open communication

It also seems that a lot more could be done for the team websites, both for revenue and non-revenue sports. Students are just sitting in classes doing projects for other causes, when some could be investing in UNI itself.

Now a tweet just went out that UNI faculty and staff are invited to attend and will receive two free tickets to the game by showing their staff ID at the ticket window. That's great. But it's 4:00 in the afternoon the day before. I'm hoping an email went out a long time ago about it...

I am not kidding when I say I've seen more tweets about Jake's steakburger at Whiskey Road than the game tomorrow.

                            Yeah, but ...

Tough not to get excited about that!

Whiskey Road is my new favorite dining sport in CF. Have only been there twice, but still.

                                Re: Attention UNI Athletics Marketing

Gotta get this off my chest...

As a student who follows UNI basketball very intently, the marketing for students has been nothing short of embarrassing. UNI doesn't have the luxury of the athletics selling themselves to students without additional work, yet the AD acts like we do. Last year, student attendance was low, and instead of the athletics dept owning up to poor marketing, they blame the students and punish us by taking away our seats. They expected us to come out to the ticket office to get a ticket when everyone else had the luxury of doing it from home. We were intermingled with families and elderly folks, and it was the lowsiest student section I've witnessed (excluding the WSU game).

The ordering system this year is certainly an improvement, but their lack of attention to the students is alarming. (i.e. free t-shirts were thrown/blasted our way a total of 0 times during the CSU game). At least 90% of students hadn't heard that there was a game tomorrow morning until today. People can get "free" doughnuts and milk at the dining center, is that really all they have to offer? That's just weak... The message is clear to me, the athletic dept just doesn't care about us. We pay plenty to attend UNI, we deserve some recognition.

On top of it all, gameday atmosphere is boring, the guided cheers are depressing, and the music is far too quiet. (The clones blast music at their sporting events, it's awesome). If I wasn't really big into bball, I wouldn't bother coming to these games either. They just flat out aren't that fun...
