    Re: Up Next: Wichita State

I think the team fought hard. Shot 32% and were out rebounded by 11. There was too much dribbling and not enough passing/screens. I thought at times the adjustments worked such as Koch attacking the rim/doubling the point guard. We just don't have enough quickness. Some zone defense could have saved Koch from fouling out. We didn't close out on 3 point shooters enough. Keep your head up team!

      Yeah...I hear you.

My point was really that we were in position to make a run at the lead with a few good possessions.

      Never found the next gear.

Not like we don't have it. We beat a #1 and scored 81 to beat an ISU team that beat a #1.

      Where did it go?

I though we could have won. I know from experience winning and losing snowballs.

Thought i respected Van Vleet and that team, but why in the world were they running up the score when the game was clearly won? Classless, Jake would never do that

Wasn't the shot clock shorter than the game clock? Had to do something with the ball lol. Or am I mistaken?

This isn't elementary school. There was time on the shot clock, UNI didn't guard him, what is he supposed to do? Allow a shot clock violation?

This. It's on our guys to guard, no matter what the time/score situation is.

That is true. I think this is hard for the fans to process and accept. We'll get you next year!

That felt like a blowout for the majority of the game and the final score was a good indication of that. Van Vleet didn't play a ton of minutes and UNI never really threatened. Another hard game to watch.

The contrast in offensive execution was startling. WSU had several possessions where once the first pass was made no one on the team dribbled and they had great ball movement until a shot went up. UNI has Wes dribble and then maybe make a pass late in the shot clock. UNI doesn't need exceptional athletes to pass the ball, they just need to set solid screens and cut with a purpose.

                      I've gotta agree.

I know we don't have the offensive firepower that some of these other teams have.

But we've got a scheme problem here as well. Whatever Jake's got us trying to run...it's not creating a lot of open shots. And that's been the case since the boys boarded that plane for Hawaii.

I agree, motion offense with screens/cutting/passing/teamwork would all help the offense. I though Koch attacked the rim better. I would like him to try some turn around/fade away jumpers. I think he really struggles dribbling the ball. I thought some zone defense could have kept Koch in the game. The bad knee to Carlson explains a lot as to why he has had struggles at both ends of the floor. I think Jake made adjustments that worked tonight such as doubling the point guard. We lack the quickness to close out on the 3 point shooters and don't get the 50/50 rebounds. Wes made some good drives to the rack. He was also able to see the foul line. I also liked our foul shooting. I saw a lot of fight tonight. Good job by the fans as well.

Can't hurt at this point. Did you hear Wes' post game interview? He just seemed tired and apathetic. For such a passionate, and usually smiling guy, he just seemed out of it. We need some kind of spark.

Pretty hard to be excited after losing at home which is also the 3rd loss in a row. Senior year and nothing is going right lately. Go from being the talk of the town last year to this. Heck from the start of the season with wins over UNC and ISU to this. I will say that he took a lot of the loss upon himself.

I get that the Panthers had less talent on the court tonight than WSU. But what is worse is that we aren't playing very smart.

The Baker buzzer beater was on Wyatt - took a 28-footer with about 6 seconds left leading to the long rebound and runout, when if that's all the offense was going to do he could have easily had that same shot with 2 seconds to go. Killer. Bennett fouling out by pulling down his man in wide open space 30 seconds after coming back in the game, which is a shame because overall a good game from him. Two terrible turnovers by Wes at around 4 minutes when the game was still in the balance.

Four Panthers played the entire second half, Koch probably would have if he wasn't in foul trouble. Panthers had no legs to get over the hump and the Shockers had the killer instinct.
