Re: Vegas 16 tourney thoughts?
It's still on a national cable network, and that and the destination are selling points for future recruits. That it generates very few viewers is not as important. It's obviously not the same as going to the NCAA, but it's much better than being a crap team sitting at home.Originally posted by run&blade View PostExposure? Nobody is going to watch these games.

Re: Vegas 16 tourney thoughts?
It's all relative. No one is going to watch the CBI/CIT games because the vast majority aren't on tv at all. A small audience is better than no audience. And bear and mind, we are talking about picking from the third tier tourneys here...I basically was just curious if people felt like the lipstick looked best on this particular pig, amongst the three options.Originally posted by run&blade View PostExposure? Winning cures all ills
Give us a yell, HO! The purple and the gold
Victory for U-N-I!

Well let me toss this in. Lol if you think going to Vegas is going to help recruiting. We all know all they get is unathletic guys from around Iowa that jack 3's non-stop.Originally posted by BCPanther View PostI've missed r&b since we've won 9 of 10...
We found out this year one guy that can create his own shot doesn't work. Next year Uni might have zero.
Last season should have opened recruiting doors, where are the studs?

Juwan McCloud can get his own. He's a stud. Isaiah Brown is Top 25 in Texas ranked above several 3-stars.Originally posted by run&blade View PostWell let me toss this in. Austin Phyfe is a big time get too.
I don't know how much better we can do? Realistically until we break through with a Final Four type run we're doing about as well as we can...

Re: Vegas 16 tourney thoughts?
Going to Vegas can't hurt, can it? I agree with you that I want to see the level of player and level of athlete get better. In order to do that, you need more selling points from a recruiting standpoint. Vegas isn't a game changer, but it's not a negative either. Going nowhere in the postseason...that's a negative.Originally posted by run&blade View PostWell let me toss this in. Lol if you think going to Vegas is going to help recruiting. R&B, we're talking about a team that was 10-11 about a month ago. Let's not get too up on our high horses about what tournaments are beneath us. I sure hope they finish well enough this weekend to get an NCAA or NIT bid, but Vegas would be fine if they don't come through.Give us a yell, HO! The purple and the gold

Re: Vegas 16 tourney thoughts?
I wouldn't play in a thing under the nit if it cost a lot of money.
The extra practices are meaningless, if they don't have it figured out after five or six months I doubt it will click now.
I wish these bogus tournaments let redshirts play, then I would see lots of positives.

R&B has some good points. Why not spend the time recruiting the 13th scholarship? Why not concentrate on player weight training/development? Why not always make at least the NIT?Originally posted by 95UNIGRAD View PostR&B, we're talking about a team that was 10-11 about a month ago. Re: Vegas 16 tourney thoughts?
I'm pretty sure the NCAA is always the ultimate goal, and the NIT secondary. Anything after that we'll see. I fully expect us to take the best tourney that we have an opportunity to play this year. The only recent year that I recall we didn't was when I'm pretty sure we had just 1 senior (Chip Rank) and he didn't start. It's a going away party of sorts for seniors and if you play well and win, could still be a good recruiting tool imo. I don't think this takes away from recruiting or player development in any way.To avoid confusion - my username is baseball (Cy Young award) related, NOT for the Cyclones.
