There have been a number of games where we have fallen behind, rallied, and came one possession short. It really feels like even the late 3, followed by turnover, followed by a miss has happened multiple times.
I'm not a coach but I'd blame this one on defensive laziness and not staying focused enough on that side of the ball. Yeah we were sloppy on offense and turned it over a lot, but that is SIU's game and they did it well. Lack of defensive intensity for about a 10 minute stretch cost us the game. SIU is the kind of team to force a lot of turnovers, but they are not the kind of team that shoots the ball the way they did to start the half, and only commit five turnovers total, without some assistance from the opposition.
When did this program become the most unclutch program in the country? Not just in-game, but the games as a whole? Like, this game probably just knocked down attendance for Loyola by 1000. Today/yesterday was the first time I saw national press for us all year. We were about to be ranked! Just to have that performance. Has UNI won a big game since that Texas buzzer beater? Someone mentioned this earlier, but why doesn't this stuff happen to the other teams in the conference? Loyola's cruising just fine, sure they got one loss but Drake doesn't look too bad this year. Bradley's only losses are to us. Why can't we just be good? We always look like we're about to be good, and then right about the time we get to the point where it's like "If they win this one, then I'll say they've turned the corner," boom. This.
We shot 5% better on fg and 3pt. We out rebounded them by 15... they shot 19 more FTs... and had 10 fewer TOs . Crazy stats. Phyfe (8-10) and Berhow (8-11) played well, .. AJ (6-15) the pg had 6 TOs, brown was 2-11. Ouch

Texas A&M is when. I have said it many, many times. We have not been the same since.

I agree, but it's like...how? There's only a couple players who were even around for that game. How did UNI go from a decently clutch team to the complete antithesis of that word? When there's been a complete turnover of the roster?
Three things have to happen for UNI to lose this year.
1. Ton of turnovers, we are turning the ball over too much as a whole this year, but in the loses we have more lazy turnovers.
2. The other team has a player or players shoot out of their mind. SIU had a player that was 4/34 from 3 this year go 4/7.
3. Iffy officiating, I’m not going to go on whining about the officiating tonight, but that crew was not good, the crew in Normal and Cancun were not good either plain and simple.
If we fix the first one the other 2 don’t have the impact that they did tonight.

I agree 100% with this. It seems like the last several years, we always lose the game right before we're about to have a big home game. Or we drop the big home game. It's one of the big reasons our attendance suffers. Right when it seems like the general public gets interested, we sh*t the bed. It's super frustrating.
Too many turnovers in the first half. Plan was for jones to miss threes. However, when you give a d1 player set shots, they can get hot.
Still not a fan of no subbing and not playing guys cause of match ups. Was Dahl sick?
I was more wondering about Betz than Dahl. I can see Dahl isn't a great matchup against some teams, but why did McDonnell all the sudden jump ahead of Betz in minutes tonight?
To avoid confusion - my username is baseball (Cy Young award) related, NOT for the Cyclones.
Patterns I just don’t get: Dahl got only 12 minutes against Illinois State and about 12 seconds tonight. We lose both.
We play 4 guards but don’t press until it’s virtually impossible to win. They were playing 4 freshmen and we should have gone after them full court.
McDonnell is inexplicable. Hell, Biggie has played about as much.
Not starting Pick and not playing Dahl when it crushed Bradley.
I think part of the clutch factor is not having a go to post player at the end of games. Like Adam Koch or Seth Tuttle. I think Phyfe is capable but we don’t go to him in a clutch situation like we did with Koch and Tuttle.
