Just watched the full game on YouTube last night for the first time since seeing it live on TV in 2010. So many great memories.
Give us a yell, HO! The purple and the gold
    Victory for U-N-I!

Find out what the other team wants to do, then take it away from them.

We had a big play or big shot every time we needed it in that game. Every time KU would get close, a three from Ali, a three from Johnny, the putback dunk from Adam Koch, the list goes on.
Plus, all the little plays from the supporting cast during that game were so huge: Sonnen's drive to the hoop, O'Rear's tip in, Kerwin's and 1, Jake Koch's charge. It was just the perfect game (outside of our inability to handle pressure).
Also reminds me fondly of our awesome team defense and rebounding that has regressed since that time. Wish we had that back nowadays.

It's really amazing how big of an impact Phyfe had this year.
If computers ruled college basketball the way they do football, we'd have skipped all this March Madness monotony and just waited a month for the Kansas-Kentucky title game. And watched Northern Iowa play Cornell in the Poulan Weedeater Bowl. ~ Dwight Perry The Seattle Times

Phyfe made a big impact on offensive rebounds but they have been really good for 3 years now. Extremely good defensive rebounding most years.

Also, this season we were #8 in 3FG% and #54 in 2FG%. Offensive rebound % isn’t as significant if you’re making your shots.

OR% is still the percentage of available offensive rebounds (i.e. we rebounded 28.9% of missed shots) but certainly it is less important if you make more shots to begin with.

You’re forgetting one huge key to this game. Kwazdo Ahelegba’s defense on AA Sherron Collins. He was a guy that based on pure ability, we were lucky to have. He easily could’ve played at a level above mid major. He was tough as hell too.
