There's a new authentic taco place on the Hill where the OP was. I personally have not been able to try it out, but I've heard nothing but good things.

Regarding Mainstreet and downtown. It's a gem. Must do/explore. The river project is close to being done if not completely done. Still some aesthetic things they are working on I believe.

Zury's. Food was great and it has a really unique menu for a Mexican place, margaritas disappointing.

Grew up in Cedar Falls and worked on the Parkade in the '80s. It is really amazing to see how that area has changed since the '70s and what a gem it is now.

Speaking of tacos, there’s Tacos California (across from the icehouse/schoolhouse).

Their red salsa is pretty hot.
