  • Unfortunately it was just one of those games. Stats we pretty close except for shooting %. We couldn’t buy a bucket and Loyola hit the big shots.

      Another Jake futility record.

The best three sentence summary of the game right there.

        • So, no chance at all of getting an invite to the Big Dance?

            • We scored over 100 pts on them a week ago. Very similar to the drake fiasco a couple years ago in st louis.

              • So okay, since everyone always seems to have inside information except for me, what are the odds that AJ does come back? Assuming he gets draft feedback that lands in him in the "maybe late second round, maybe" category.

Major difference, imo. Drake was a much worse team than we were that year, and today was the opposite. Loyola was the more talented team regardless of last weekends result.

                  • Well, didn't go our way. Certainly not the officials' faults. They didnt call it tight, but if we cant hit shots it wasnt going to matter. Hell of a run the past 2 months. Got the NIT coming up in a couple weeks.

If he leaves I hope it is to go pro. Would be an absolute blow to see him hit the portal. There have been a few Des Moines media members claiming they have "inside info" from "sources" that he is going to Iowa State for his final year to be with Kyle and get more exposure in a P5 conference. I would be heartbroken if that happened.

Nope. We'll get ready for the NIT next Tuesday or Wednesday.

but people on this board live for complaining and looking down their noses at things.

                          • Had an ominous feeling about that game before it even started. There's no use at this point in crying over spilled milk though. The team played like crap and lost to a good team that didn't. Just wasn't our day. Really that simple. Only about half the teams that won their regular season last year won their conference tournament, too, so we are in good company.

Hopefully we will have a nice little run in the NIT and end on a good note. The fact that we won the conference without a big is frankly amazing. And for all of you blaming this loss on Jake, there are a number of games that we won this year because of coaching, too. It's lame to me that you would rail against the coach who, just last week, won us the conference championship in probably one of the most memorable home games in our history. Step back and breathe for a little bit.

                            • Overcame a ton from the start of this season but fell just short against a very, very good team. You could argue a healthy Phyfe would have made “THE” difference for this team (if healthy) and it’s such a shame he and AJ may be done. This team needs a consistent post and is what made them lethal two years ago.

No one brought it today to help AJ…so many chances within 10 and every time Loyola either hit a big shot, we turned it over or uncharacteristically missed a free throw.

NIT should be fun but can’t believe AJ, AP, TB and TP didn’t get to the dance. Wouldn’t have believed that could be possible after AJ came aboard….

I'd say that the empirical evidence of 3 head-to-head matchups (road, home, neutral) where one team outscores the other 238-188 in regulation is fairly strong proof that that team is better.
