This was posted in the 2024-2025 thread, but I think should be here. We're back to Atlantis in 2023. Unreal field of teams...

NEWS: The field for the 2023 Battle 4 Atlantis is set, according to multiple sources.
North Carolina
Villanova
Michigan
Arkansas
Memphis
Oklahoma
Stanford
Northern Iowa

Also, I'm betting this is what Tut's teasing tweet from a week or two ago was referencing.

Pfft. It's an okay field I guess. It'll do...

[BCPanther]

We've already got an at large caliber schedule for next year.

Enjoy the home games this year because, yikes next year.

[DownGoesKansas]

That's an 0-3 field if I've ever seen one lol
I just hope the team can remain positive for conference play

Last time we played there we made it to the title game and played a very competitive game against a National Title Villanova squad.

And that was with Juwan McCloud at PG…

That title game was Jake's best single game coaching job ever. He took that roster and had a 4 point game with 4 minutes left against a team that rolled through the NCAA Tournament.

Oh I'm not mad about it. It's just brutal field. Should be fun

IIRC Juwan played very well in that game, (nova didn't know he couldn't shoot).

[BrockLesnar]

Yeah, maybe we catch Stanford on a rough day in the 7th place game and sneak out of there 1-2.

I remember watching that game and Dicky V calling him a Wendy's All American! Easily his best game in a panther uniform

I wonder if we were promised getting in this B4A field as part of why we ended up going to Hawaii for the Diamond Head Classic last year, because it seemed weird last year when we ended up there. I could be way off base, but that’s what I thought of after seeing this.

This is our 3rd trip to B4A and have played well every time we've been there. I think we're just a known commodity to them at this point.

If there was a 'thank you' for going to Diamond Head, it's the Hall of Fame Classic in KC. I know we've been trying to get into that one forever.

...Good lord that's a ****in' field. Battle 4 Atlantis sure does seem to like having us, not that I'm complaining. Great for name recognition, anyway you slice it, and this field even more so. And hell, we've already beaten two of the teams on this list, and we historically over-perform expectations in these types of tournaments. I'm excited. Bring it on!

...But uh, it's okay to go a little soft on next year's scheduling. I know we like to rip on Drake and what-not for relying on their MTE's too much, but this is a bit different. I'm not saying we need to schedule Grambling four times...but twice would be fine.

Meh. Might as well challenge yourself in the non-con. No shot at an at-large without a tough non-con schedule. Even if you under perform in the non-con like we did last season, you've still hopefully helped prep your team for conference play by playing a challenging schedule as opposed to having 10 wins against cupcakes that aren't going to prepare you at all.
