AJ Green Signs Two-way Deal with Milwaukee Bucks

Bucks just traded Grayson Allen and Jrue Holiday for Dame Lillard. I wonder what this does for AJ minutes. He was compared to Allen coming in, maybe this opens that door a bit? Dame is going to get a ton of minutes, but Holiday and Allen had the 1st and 4th most minutes played for Milwaukee last year.To avoid confusion - my username is baseball (Cy Young award) related, NOT for the Cyclones.

Lillard coming in! Allen and Holiday out. More minutes, now! Great move! I would guess Giannis leaves next season.Originally posted by CincyPanther88 View Post

They brought in lillard specifically to keep him in milwaukee and now they are the vegas favorites to win it all. Why would he leave???Originally posted by BrockLesnar View Post

It was a fantastic move, but if the Bucks get it done this season I think they will, btw, he's ready for a new challenge. He will have two rings both in Milwaukee.Originally posted by iron panther View Post

Nah. He's just going to leave the organization that has bent over backwards for him and kept all of his brothers employed because he wants to play somewhere else rather than with a franchise that was built around him. Makes perfect sense.Originally posted by Wxcpanther View Post
Again, he has multiple years left on his deal.

How exactly is he going to get out of his deal, which would has multiple years left all at 50+m guaranteed? He's going to hold out and demand a trade from a franchise that has given him literally everything, including signing his brother who isn't really an NBA talent, and multiple NBA rings? Is that what you're asserting is going to happen?
Pretend that does happen, what NBA team is going to have the horses to trade for him? Again, he has a fully guaranteed contract that will have 2 years left after this year with over 100m left on it. What Milwaukee is going to require in return for a multiple-time MVP, multiple-time champion, top 5 player in the league at prime/peak age is going to be impossible to match.
Not only that if the other team wants to sign him to a new deal, they literally can't give him the money Milwaukee can because of Bird rights.
Lillard gave up his ability to use Bird rights in his next deal because he was 100% done with Portland. But that doesn't matter because he's already Bird righted and is using that with Milwauke now. He has already opted into his player option for 24/25 and has a 2-year extension after that for 25/26 and 26/27 that will keep him in Milwaukee until he is 37 years old. In theory, he can opt out of the 26/27 year but he will have 63.229 million reasons to not opt out of that. Long story short - Dame has 216,110,799 reasons why he will be in Milwaukee at least 4 years.
Giannis has 100,722,944 reasons he will be in Milwaukee for 2 years after this one. He will hit the market at 31 years old in the summer of 2026 and the Bucks will be able to offer him another 275+ in guaranteed money that he can't get anywhere else. So unless things to super sideways with Dame and the front office, he isn't going anywhere. The days of the "Big 3" are starting to end. I think we are going to find franchises, and players, are going to realize it's better to go with a "Big 2" maxed out and more money spread to depth pieces than trying to max 3 with less depth.

Lebron probably can't hold on for his son to make the league. Yeah, he says he can but he's probably done after the 2025 season. So, Lebron ends up being the GOAT. Everything is cyclical and there will be another GOAT after Lebron. Hence, Giannis after winning his 2nd ring moves on when his contract allows it. Lebron wrote his own ticket and Giannis has earned the right to write his too. All that other stuff is in the past and is done. Time changes and people change too. And oh btw, I'm sure a top contract lawyer can get Giannis out of that iron clad deal you tried to describe.Originally posted by clenz View Post

Also, the older Giannis becomes his value diminishes and he would be easier to trade. Giannis could be a freak of nature and play at top 10 level past 30. However, that's the exception not the rule. For the most part, guys on the other side of 30 are on the way out. The average career expectancy is 4.5 years in the NBA. Giannis might hang on to 40, but most are done by 27. Before Dame showed up ESPN NBA analyst Brian Windhorst said GIannis will leave when his contract allows it to happen. Windhorst made it clear it can be in one year. Yeah, go get that fancy contract lawyer. So, let me get this straight you're saying you're correct and Brain Windhorst of ESPN is wrong?Originally posted by clenz View Post
