I don't think people are realizing yet that the NCAA tournament is ruined. For years they have been legislating these boring ass games into existence. But they'll figure it out eventually.
I didn't fill out a bracket this year but I thought about submitting one with 100% chalk. I wish I would have, I'd be winning.

I hear you and I'm a mid major fan and supporter at heart, but all of those teams except for arguably Texas deserved their spot. The SEC this year is arguably the best conference in college basketball history, I mean they went 185-23 as a conference during non-conference play. The worst team South Carolina had a non conference record of 10-3. Put South Carolina and LSU in the Big East and they probably would have been in the tournament this year. The 6 teams you mentioned with sub 500 records all had multiple top 25 wins, most notably Georgia beating Florida on the road and Vandy beating Tennessee. Oklahoma went undefeated in non conference with wins over Arizona, Louisville, and Michigan. Also, all 6 of those teams combined for just 1 Quad 3/4 loss being Oklahoma losing at home to LSU. Drake went 7-0 against Quad 1/2, but suffered all three of their losses to Quad 3/4 opponents. That's always gonna be the problem for mid major programs, because the power teams have more opportunities to play better opponents so as a mid major you would have to be nearly perfect in Quad 3/4 games to even be considered for an at large. Also when it comes to those SEC teams, a lot of them were in 8-9 and 7-10 matchups, and let's be honest those matchups can always go either way. Arkansas as a 10 seed is in the Sweet 16, and any of those other 5 teams could have potentially done the same if their matchups were different. If the SEC gets 7 teams in the Sweet 16 and/or all 4 Final Four teams, I think it's safe to say the hype around the conference was warranted.Originally posted by domedays View PostSEC had 6 teams in the tournament that were under 500 in conference. They went 1-5. Might be something for the committee to think about before they go putting 6-12 teams instead of a top mid-major, next time.

Call me crazy but I think the rest of the D1 conferences should file a lawsuit to achieve promotion/relegation. As it currently sits the power conferences dictate who their members are with no accountability or rules to let anyone else in unless they feel like extending an invitation. I'm not a lawyer so I don't know how that would work, probably not anti trust, but they need to be held to some sort of rule set. I.E. if you don't make the NCAA tournament for X number of years or an NIL spending floor etc. you get sent down.

None of that is possible without an anti-trust exemption that they're never, ever getting.Originally posted by CletusCat View PostCall me crazy but I think the rest of the D1 conferences should file a lawsuit to achieve promotion/relegation. This is the new normal.

They gave a big shout out to Ali on staff and Northern Iowa as well.Originally posted by GarretW1797 View PostBowen Born having a great game off the bench for Colorado State. 10 points on 5-6 shooting with 4 rebounds and a steal.
Heise playing right now, pretty well too.
Imagine we said a couple years ago both Born and Heise are playing well in the second round of the tournament how we would have interpreted it.

The only way a UNI guy can get to the tournament is to transfer.Originally posted by Username View Post

Big 3-pointer by CSU, then a drive down the lane for a buzzer-beater that featured 3 full steps. Probably many missed calls on both teams earlier. My general take-away from this tournament is how rough the play is. A different kind of basketball then the rules envision. The jersey-grabbing, hooking, and flat-out pushing down low & on rebounds continues to "advance" like the NBA has. The college women's game is where the men were a decade or two before.
