    Just why.
He was always a really inefficient scorer and he's now in a place where he doesn't get 20+ shots per night.

Fantastic kid, glad he was a Panther but we're leaps and bounds better offensively without him on the roster and every single stat and metric shows it.

Nobody, maybe beyond Tytan and Heise, was more hard nosed when it came to driving the ball to the basket like Bowen was. However... his size was really difficult for us. The length we have with this team now is extremely beneficial in every way.

I hope we're done with the small guard experiments. Born, and how we're playing after RJ's injury, should be enough evidence that we should be looking for 6'3" and up.
I know that's difficult at times at our level but it's clear that's the best path.

And it's not getting any better. He's only played over 12 minutes once in the last 5 the games, and shooting 25.6% from 3 on the season - which is supposed to be his strong suit.

I don't disagree, though in 21-22 off the bench he was sort of efficient, and 22-23 factoring in volume and 3 point shots he was passable as well.

Just completely fell off a cliff and can't play either role now. Regardless, and I don't wish him ill, it does seem it's a good addition by subtraction for us and I'm ok with being wrong on it.

I also think the Mountain West ends up being extremely physical. Almost to a fault. Colorado St. also doesn't play the most offensive friendly system.

Only guard we have coming in next year is Geon and he's 6'4". You can have shorter guards, but they need to be built like Duke Deen or Fred VanVleet. They essentially have to be bowling balls. Bowen could make it work before he got so banged up because he was ultra quick and could shoot lights out. Injuries really took their toll on Bo. I feel bad for him.

I do like the guard length we've been able to bring in lately, but I also think there a lot of guards under 6-3 that are great players in DI; so this made me curious. Looking at just 5 'mid-major' conferences (AAC, MVC, A-10, M West, MAC) restricting to only starters in just the top 5 in each (presumably winning teams)..I still found 14 making huge contributions...so you could easily double that when incuding all teams.
                  stats are PPG/RPG/APG)
                  Bradley Duke Deen 5-8 15.9 3.7 4.2
                  UIC Ahmad Henderson 5-9 10.2 2.5 3.7
                  S Florida Jayden Reid 5-10 12.4 2.6 4.4
                  St Louis Isaiah Swope 5-10 18.3 2.5 5.5
                  Akron Tavari Johnson 5-11 12.5 1.6 3.5
                  Memphis Tyrese Hunter 6-0 15.4 4.1 3.3
                  Boise State Alvaro Cardenas 6-1 11.1 2.9 6.6
                  UNLV Dedan Thomas 6-1 16.2 2.0 4.2
                  N Texas Atin Wright 6-1 13.5 2.0 0.8
                  Temple Jamal Mashburn 6-2 20.4 2.4 2.1
                  Ind St Samage Teel 6-2 17.7 4.6 4.4
                  St Bonaventure Dasonte Bowen 6-2 11.1 3.8 4.2
                  Dayton Malachi Smith 6-2 11.9 2.7 5.9
                  New Mexico Donovan Dent 6-2 19.1 2.3 7.0

I wouldn't want my entire backcourt to average 6-1...but I wouldn't automatically skip recruting them either.

Speaking of shorter PGs, I really do wonder how Antwan Kimmons would have done if he stayed here. Obviously he moved down to D2, but he's having a really good season - averaging over 25 PPG and he's scored 40 and 44 his last two games. Guy was a firecracker, he had that bigger upper body that undersized guys need. I loved the way he played.

Agreed....I have wondered that too. He has been a BEAST there...I also wonder if St Thomas had thought about him when they went to the Summit...portal move that would have allowed him to stay in Twin Cities

And they just joined the Big Ten officiating consortium which is only going to make that worse.

Guy was an athlete as well. Was jumping with Cole Henry in warmups.

The best part of him was how supportive he was. Even with all the stuff he had going on, took a break between pretty good seasons for the team, and was the first guy to support the success of the team, even if he wasn't living up to the fullest he knew he could.

I'd like to see a thread like this created for the HS players we offered who committed to schools in higher conferences. Guys like Jonathan Mekonnen, Dayton Forsythe, Jackson McAndrew, Isaiah Johnson-Arigu, Colin White, Matthew Hodge and Matt Reed.
There will be guys like this every season that we could be trying to get in the portal a season or two later.

I see where Isaiah Johnson-Arigu transfer to Iowa from Miami effective this upcoming second semester. Will practice with the team beginning second semester and play games next season.
