  • Game 3 - Nov 10th - UC Irvine

This is going to be an interesting matchup. UC Irvine is at 80 on KenPom and we are at 104. This would definitely be a quality win for us. UC Irvine is big but they looked like they were a little worn out last night with Loyola Marymount. Andre Henry and Justin Hohn are a couple scorers to watch out for and they do have a big 7 footer who moves decently at that size. We should matchup fairly equally in size.

I'm curious if they will run a zone like they did last night. Our percentages would maybe suggest they don't, but I'm not sure our percentages are telling the whole story on what kind of shooting team we are. LMU had a lot of open looks last night and just missed them. Another really solid test in the non conference

Those of you going to the game, have a blast and be loud! Go Cats!

This Anteater team has a 7’1” guy and shoots well from 3. Will be a tough game.

We should be in good shape if we play like we did against Milwaukee. We just can't become 3 happy like we have in past seasons, especially when they aren't dropping. However, this game should be an overall tougher test and will give us a better indicator where this team is at.

The odds makers are expecting this one to be close! We are a 1.5 point favorite and the total is about 10 points less than last game.

Outside of the big man, they start 3 guys under 6'5". We should have the length advantage everywhere other than the 5 matchup.

So far our team has been fun to watch. Looking forward to another good game against what should be a good test. I like the early start against a team traveling 2 time zones for a little home court boost. Lets hope we keep defending and hustling like we have been. Fun to see us using 10 guys - this team has legit depth. Hope we keep it rolling today.

That's strange if they don't play with that much length that they'd runa zone. Usually that's the whole idea having long arms to clog up passing lanes.

But isn’t part of the benefit of a zone that the big guy can stay in the post?

100%. You don't want the Big Guy trying to move his feet on the perimeter.

Hutty knocking down a couple 3s would be huge today.

IIRC, Hutty did have a few games last year where he struggled with a big man who could knock down 3s. I don't remember if they figured out a solution for that. I feel like that was a part of the larger issue with us not being able to guard the 3 point line well.

The solution is that we have Hornseth there who is a really good defender.

Huge congrats to the team on doing the simple task of getting the feed on that only 300 + other programs have to do on a weekly basis. Big win!

This is the type of shooting I worry about with this team. We lack an elite 3pt guy who's going to see significant time imo. Hopefully some of these guys who are new surprise me and we find that person we can rely on for that.

Too sloppy early on. Protect the ball and rebound and we'll be fine.
