  • Game 10 - Oakland - December 13

Oakland comes to town on Saturday night. They sit at 145 in KenPom while we are at 98. Oakland is 5-5 but they have played one of if not the toughest non-con schedules this year. Three of their five losses are to Michigan, Purdue, and Houston. They score a ton of points but also give up a ton of points. They have won their last 4 games as well. They have averaged scoring 91 ppg if you throw out the one huge outlier where they only scored 45 against Houston. They have averaged giving up 90 ppg as well.

If there were ever a "get right" matchup for our offense, it would be this one. I would love to see us knocking down our open looks tomorrow night. We are really going to have to be strong in our transition defense and defending the arc. They haven't shot the three great as a team but they have a few guys who will shoot a lot of them and can get hot.

Players to watch on their end are Brody Robinson at guard and Isaac Garrett inside. Robinson is a very good 3 point shooter and Garrett is strong inside and a very solid free throw shooter. This is especially dangerous as he has been very adept getting to the line. Others to watch from 3 are Nassim Mashhour and Brett White. We are going to have our hands full defensively.

This feels like the kind of game where Trey and Max can get their shot going. I also think Will and Tristan could get a lot of good looks down low. I have faith we can hold Oakland well below their scoring average but we better be making them on our end if we want to win this one. Time to get back on track.

Time to see how much they like to grind. Vintage Jake coming up in this one.

This is a good team, but the kind of game we will need to win pretty much 100% of the time at home in MVC play if we truly think we have a shot at the league title.

Doesn't look like they have a ton of size on their roster, so that'll help some of our perimeter players like Max, Pock and RJ be more effective.

Can't wait for today's game. Really could use a solid performance against a decent opponent to wash the disappointment of losing two close games so far this season. Go Panthers!

It's another Saturday UNI home game, so naturally a good chunk of the state is getting a blizzard!

The team just put out a message that Max will be out tonight with an illness. Guess we will see a lot more of Ben and Geon.

I just have to say, in the intro video, whoever chose to segue from Ali shooting The 3 to Leon dunking, that was genius. Well done.

So far it looks like a repeat of the Wichita game. Can't shoot. Lucky they are turning the ball over a bunch.

True that. We look a little slow and out of sink.

We're doing everything we need to win in this one...except make shots.

Nice run to end the half there.

They're super athletic and kind of scattered. They aren't easy to play against.

Last few minutes looked better. Shooting better especially down low. Conditioning is going to be important. OAK runs a lot and may tire us out. I think we need to go inside more. Ben can really have a good game tonight. OAK is controlled to throw the ball away. If they do that in the 2nd half we can win going away.
