agreed. If he loses Tuttle, Bond & Zens. And Hornseth goes to Wisconsin or elsewhere, I think that will be a very tough start for Jacobson. Especially w/ all that NIL money that's rumored. I really like our position moving forward. Now, it's more getting the puzzle pieces to fit. I think this staff will recruit & coach their azzes off.

I don't think Utah State hired Jake with a view of the upside of him bringing guys with him. This is not Schertz brining his Indiana State team over or McCullom with Stirtz. Or even West Virginia with DeVries. He's already been able to retain a few key guys from leaving a team that won a game in the NCAA which probably really excites their fan base. With a $4M budget their fans actually may not be that focused about getting some guys from a team that was the 6 seed in the Valley (in their view). And I would think their fans would still understand they can't compete with Big 10 or Big 12 money.

Understood. I've never found Jacobson that great a recruiter. I viewed him more as a developer & defensive coach. His teams built, including in season, like we saw this year. I'm just saying, I certainly think it was his intention to bring the staff & several key players w/ him to help in the transition. He has to bring in quite a few players. Certainly things can change, but I'm not sure it's going to go quite the way he planned. Time will tell I guess.

Jake has already kept 3 or 4 key pieces of that Utah State team since he got there. I think there's a good chance Will follows him. Zens will probably end up at Wisconsin or Illinois but could still end up at Utah State. Leon could follow Jake and Jake loves him, but I could just as easily see him going to ISU or Wisconsin.

Bottom line, I think Jake will be just fine with what's already happened.

Yeah, almost need a new thread. As much as I thank Jake for what he did for our program, he's gone now. I'm not too concerned with who he brings in or not. I'm interested in who is going to be in purple and gold next year. We've got our staff, let's see who we can build with.
