  • GMAC to IOWA

Sorry to talk about iowa on panther nation. But since it involse coach mac I thought it was worth discussion.

Iowa city radio 800 is reporting that Iowa really wants mac from isu. They intoned that it was a real possibiity.

what is mac on a mission to alienate all iowa schools?

maybe he should coach at drake first and then leave them high and dry for for the "beloved hawkeyes"

    coach mac some free advice?

    stay where you are.

That would be SHOCKING. I, for one, just don't buy it.

They may WANT him. But he won't leave after one year.
If computers ruled college basketball the way they do football, we'd have skipped all this March Madness monotony and just waited a month for the Kansas-Kentucky title game. And watched Northern Iowa play Cornell in the Poulan Weedeater Bowl. ~ Dwight Perry The Seattle Times

Mac has an OUTSTANDING recruiting class coming in next year in Ames. I just don't see him leaving.

If Iowa wanted him so bad they should have known they needed to act last year. Hartzell said in an interview earlier this week that "The Athletic community is pretty small" You know that everyone in that department in Iowa City knew Mac was out looking for any big job he could find in the Midwest.

what a classy guy coach mac is. Out looking for a new job while UNi is daring to dream they can beat georgetown last year.

I am telling you money corrupts absolutely.

Oh and don't give me the sob story about how he could not live on 300K a year. And his wife had cancer so he needed to be a millionaire. Please!

Somteimes I think college atheltics should find a soul and get back to reality.

Here is a thought pay coaches 100 or 200 K a year. But what about all the money they make from atheltics you ask. Give to school, lower ticket prices, give it back to the state of iowa.

I do not want coaches to be payed nothing but millionaires, give me a break.

oh and do not mention that argument about job security not be good so they need more money.

Most people make 40 to 50 K a year and are one recession away from unemployment.

They are coaches not gods. If they want millions go to the NBA. A for profit company that can pay and charge whatever they want.

Not gonna happen. He's about to go on a big time run in Ames with those kids he has coming in. Would be very foolish to leave.

                Willie, I tend to agree with you . . . a little.

I too, find it difficult to really glorify Mac and all his awesomeness when he was "assumingly" searching for jobs while we were preparing for the NCAA tournament.

College basketball is what it is, and I totally agree, money clouds reality. Being a partial Hawk fan (I'm sorry, truly sorry) I would love to see Mac in Iowa City, but doubt it happens.

I hate it for the Valley, but the one I could definately see happening, is Altman.

Look out jman, I got torn apart for saying this. By the way, you can take out the word "assumingly." There is no doubt he was looking for jobs in season last year. Everybody forgets that he stopped in Chicago on the way back from Dayton to interview for the K-State job.

If you are interviewing for the K-State job, you want out and you don't care where or how.

I won't tear you apart for disparaging mac. In fact I agree 110 percent.

I predict altman will stay at creighton. His incoming class is very good including 4 star stinett.

Final four not out of the question for the future at crieghton

I agree that the future is incredibly bright at CU. They have two top 150 recruits coming. P'Allen Stinnett was going to Iowa State before Morgan got canned, we all know that Wayne only recruited top talent....

There is absolutley no way Greg McDermott leaves ISU for Iowa at this time!

This Rumor stuff gets to be a bit ridiculous, when feed by the Media pundits..?

And as far as "Mac" looking for jobs.....?

Do your Homework, They were looking for Him!...Short Memories he looked for one job (5 Years Ago) and that was UNI his Alma Mater....He Applied to UNI, Check this UNI / did not call him, he called them! He is where is at now because of what He and Jake accomplished.

There is a difference from pursuing and being pursued....

So are you saying that he used UNI as step up to a "better" job.

Then what about all that dream job bull sh**& he spewed before he left.

Personally I would want someone at UNI who believes in the place and is not trying to be successful just so:

to quote coachdags "to get where he is now"

Whatever happen to integrity and pride in place. Does going from really rich (300 K a year) to really really rich (1 mil a year) somehow cancel that out?
