i looked into a BWW franchise in CF when Camp David closed and that building became available. i was still living in CF at the time. BWW corporate required a commitment to open at least two restaurants per owner and the franchise fees were over $400k. that location would have killed, but i am not sure where another good spot would have been. my best idea was waverly.

If you still have the itch to do something like this how about bringing a Quaker State to the Dsm area? They beat the hell out of BWW and I think you could do right well with one here.

I didn't know if there were two different restaurant chains, and wanted to look into their menues. Thanks for the clarification.

somewhat of a tangent, but I once stopped at a restaurant in the Des Moines area who had really good cheesesteak sandwiches (maybe not comparable to authentic philadelphia cheesesteaks, but they were better than most around Iowa). Can't remember if it was called the Philadelpha Bar and Grill or the 18th St. Bar and Grill, or something else. I should look for it again next time I'm in DSM. [/ramble]

I love BWW. I'm excited to hear this. Hopefully they will be big UNI boosters/supporters. I'd hate to have them come in and not be...or worse support Iowa or Iowa State

i still like BWW despite its growth. it is a little more family oriented these days and the food is mediocre, but they have stayed true to local sports roots. even though the food itself is average, their sauces make up for it IMHO.

i have never even heard of quaker steak. what is it? i had no restaurant management experience (although my wife and I worked at broosters together!!!!) but I knew a guy who would have been great at it. my thought at the time was that BWW was exploding onto the scene and location tends to be the most important thing. the BWW CEO was married to by buddy's boss, which is what planted the seed in my mind. it was never a very serious plan though.

Ate at Quaker Steak & Lube in Council Bluffs after the NCAA wrestling finals this year. Pretty good bar food and they give you a Twizzler when they deliver the bill!

Actually pretty good food. There are a bunch of them out here in Ohio. The only one I know of in Iowa is by the Mid-America Center in Counciltucky (Council Bluffs).

Quakersteak and Lube is a restaurant simlar to BW-3's but with a racing theme. They also have a good bike night here in CMH every Wednesday evening. They started in PA. As for BW-3's it started on the Ohio State Campus.
