    It’s been a couple years since that change.

    Its treated like a first down outside the last couple minutes of a half

      Did we even have the "hands" team out for that kick? He definitely botched the execution of the kick, but if he had hit it better, it might have made Stig look like a genius if he had caught UNI by surprise with the onside.

      9. Didn't like Farley taking that holding call on 3rd down in the 4th qtr. It was a 56 yard FG attempt and he gave them a chance for a big play, PI, etc. to keep the drive alive.
      I questioned that too. Though 56 yards was obviously within Viniteri's range. A FG wouldn't have tied or put them ahead (if I'm remembering right), but it would have closed the gap.
      Either way, if the Jacks had gone onto score one way or the other, people would have second-guessed the decision, whether he accepted the penalty or not. Guess he just had faith in the defense to make the stop.

      10. Watching the entire bench and student section do "Jump Around" after the pick 6 was a lotta fun. Clanton was bouncing down the sideline...kids were having a blast.
      Seeing that was definitely fun. And when they played "Jump Around" at volleyball today, it brought a smile to my face remembering that scene from yesterday.

        Man did this guy turn into a nice DT. He's a load in the middle and his athleticism is underrated.

        Plays a ton of snaps every game.

        Great success story.
        The feature story in yesterday's game program was about Bryce. It was a good read.

          Watched the replay tonight ...

          - The Oline's play is really nice. Lots of getting downfield blocking on runs. And pummeling people;

          - McShane can light up the field like Johnny Gray, Jr., did;

          - Some really nice open field tackling and great swarming to the ball by the defense;

          - Lots of Jacks getting helped off the field last night. Lots of them.

          - Loud crowd. Been talked about a lot here by those who were there, but to hear them on the ESPN+ was great, especially on getting loud when SDSU took the ball back with 32 seconds left and down by eight.
          "Well, that escalated quickly."

              There were some great catches in Sat nights game.

              Rima's catch in the back of the end zone wasn't dramatic...but he made it look smooth as butter.

              Jaylin James made some really nice two handed snatches on a couple sideline balls. He's got sticky hands.

              SDSU's big TE made a beautiful one handed snag on the ball down the seam.

              X's pick six was crazy.

              And Moore's big gain to the 1 yard line was real nice.
              Winning is more fun than losing.

                How was the crowd? It looked good on TV. Was it as full as for NDSU? Did we really have more UNI fans for SDSU than NDSU?

                  It finally felt like we were in control and played a classic game of UNI football. The pregame intro was well done with the count-down (I don't remember if that was new or just added this week) but very well done... The music was great with even some new songs mixed in. Loud on defense which was a nice change. My only gripe is that apparently there is something happening in the Cedar Valley around 6:00 pm that I am not invited too as the place seems to empty half way through the third quarter. Up to that point the crowd was great. I really can't figure out why you come out to the game and stay until just after half time and then leave especially since it was a very yet to be decided game. Take one from the dogs down the road and let's get back home on a nice 3 game winning streak to take on ISUr...
                  If computers ruled college basketball the way they do football, we'd have skipped all this March Madness monotony and just waited a month for the Kansas-Kentucky title game. And watched Northern Iowa play Cornell in the Poulan Weedeater Bowl. ~ Dwight Perry The Seattle Times

                    SDSU clearly does not travel like NDSU. In fact it almost looked like we put their visiting fans above the concourse which if true is an absolutely fantastic change by the AD.

                      12,000 compared to the almost 10,000 for NDSU. Certainly looked like a decent crowd, and they weren't into it for the whole game, but did get up when it mattered.

                        To be fair, few in FCS travels like NDSU.

                        For the ESPN broadcast, I noticed a more cuts to shots from a hand-held on the UNI sideline (of field action and some shots up into the student section) and from the north end zone (from about mez level) for the SDSU game and I had noticed before. It seems to me that usually the bulk of shots are shot high from the east side, so lots of action close to the east sideline is unseen. The field-level camera on the UNI sideline had some great shots of action. Whoever was running the north end zone camera had great coverage of Williams' pick-6.

                        Doesn't UNI handles the production of the games that ESPN announces/streams?

                          This week was the MVFC Game of the Week. That's produced by Tupelo-Raycom and not UNI. Totally different crew and setup compared to PSN broadcasts.

                            Yes the countdown at the beginning of the intro video was new this week.
                            "...the Northern Iowa men's basketball team reached the ultimate highs before hitting a devastating low. Unexpected success, followed by unimaginable failure. And they owned it -- all of it -- for the world to see. Like men. Like leaders. Like champions -- in a way no tournament bracket could ever define."

                                I'm guessing the main reason attendance was up was because it was Homecoming.
