Louisiana-Laffayette had great, record-setting offensive numbers when Johnson was OC there for five years. He then spent one year as OC at Minnesota, where again it was a high-producing offense, but was never able to build on that when the U fired the HC and most staff with him after 2016 season.

I am not a "gotta be a UNI" guy.

He'd be one of the very very few with a uni tie I'd be okay with .

Isn’t he a defensive guy? I would prefer an offensive head coach. Too much Farley handcuffing the offense to risk it happening again.

Pantherclaw and I discussed this to some length last night, thinking who would want the job and has shown potential with the teams they have coached and we came up with a couple. Kennesaw States Brian Bohannon ( a smashmouth running coach.) and Austin Peay's Will Healy ( Richmond Spider Qb back in 2008)

Hey now, he's an all-star, (though someone once told me he ain't the sharpest tool in the shed)
I have no clue who Mr. Bohannon is, I'm just riffing on the smashmouth reference
My concern with him is that he seems to keep himself in the Georgia area. Does not seem to leave that area. Wonder whether he would ever consider UNI.

Put me in the group that doesn't really care to see a guy that runs the same offense most Iowa high schools stopped running 15 years ago - the double wing option with 88 passes all year. That **** won't fly in the mvfc. You want to know who and why schools run it? Schools that can't win recruiting battles for higher talent and size at most positions so the option is an attempt to use smaller OLs to counter the fact they can't pass protect and their QB can't really throw.

So basically your offense would be what we did in the 4th quarter yesterday, but all game every game. And the MVFC sure as hell isn't going to have problems with it like the Big South.

They are also highly ranked but that's based in besting the little sisters of the poor when it comes to FCS scholarship football, the Big South. Their OOC was Clark-Atlanta and Alabama State - one of the 3 worst SWAC schools. Real good record really bad sos.

In the Big South there is

Campbell who has spent decades non-scholarship until this year

                  Presbyterian who is going non-scholarship

Charleston Southern who was hot for a minute a couple years back and is back to being a .300 win percent team and now on suspension and probation after the NCAA found impermissible benefits from those teams and the had to vacate those seasons

Gardner-Webb who I'd bet almost no one here has heard of

Hampton - remember how bad they were - is joining next season.

And the second best team in the Big South? Remember out first round playoff game last year? Yeah, Monmouth. That's the best team KSU will face this year

the combined football budget of their conference is about NDSUs budget alone. They play in a conference where the average stadium capacity is about the size of Walston-Hoover up at Wartburg, some of them not having lights, none of them as nice as W-H. That's not really an exaggeration (stadiums are 5000, 4000, 7000, 4000 amd 6000). They would be average 4A HS stadiums by most of Iowa standards.

The Big South has had 7 players from the conference drafted since being started in 2002. 5 of them are from schools who left the conference.

Of the 25 "conference champs" 20 of them are schools no longer in the conference and 2 of those other 5 have been vacated or investigated for improper benefits.

All that is a long way of saying no thank you to that guy.

Please no smash mouth running coach. One year of Earl Bruce was enough.

I want a guy that couldn't currently find Cedar Falls on a map. Get me the best coach that we can attract/afford. Period.

Do you guys actually think we will make a coaching change? I don't.

My only hope is Farley does the right thing and retires, which is a long shot

                            No. Buyout too big.

Its the the only thing to hope for. By the time they can remove him there isn’t going to be much of a fan base left.

Next year all the tough games are on road. That isn’t good.

Buyout drops Jan 1st, doesn't it?. I wonder how much ticket revenue is down. If Harris ever wants to move on, this can't continue. They could also offer Farley an administrative job.

UNI already operates in the hole. Unless ticket sales fall below 1,000, then there is this just no way to justify the money to fire Farley (and pay the replacement). Not to mention that a lot of people still like Farley, so some fans (and donors) could be upset by the move.

There is also the possible, even likely scenario, that the new coach doesn't do well right away, and I can't imagine this fanbase will give him a couple years to set up the system, whether fair or not.

Would it be nice to get rid of Farley? Yes it would. Should we? Probably not. It's just another fun way that Dannen hosed us long term.
