That'll still make a decent amount of noise, should be a passable game day atmosphere. As long as it's not composed of the people who yell "SIT DOWN" when you get excited for tying the game with 3 seconds to go.

Everything on ESPN3/+. I'll update the top post but, yeah, communication from our AD and media relations folks is so bad it's comical. That's what happens when you hire somebody from NAIA to run everything....

The rumor until now has been that it is a scheduling issue, that Warner's NFL Network schedule each and every fall have until now prevented it. If things return to normal in the Fall, that conflict likely returns.

Kids born in his last season with the Cardinals are now in middle school, those who were in middle school then are now out of college; those who were in middle school when he was on that incredible three-year tear with the Rams are in their early 30s now.

Honest question - is the "make money" question directed at donors or fans? A one-time attendance date or something else?
        "Well, that escalated quickly."

You sell meet and greets and autographs, you sell the banquet and his speech, you dedicate an entire half time to him and get the bump in ticket sales. You monetize every single aspect of him being in town for 3 days.

They had football on the list on one of the PSN broadcasts. MSU, NDSU & SIU also list everything as ESPN+, so I can't imagine the rest of the league isn't following.

What if he continues with the NFL Network or some other NFL gig that conflicts with that each Fall - as has been stated here as the reason this has not happened yet - and UNI returns to a Fall FB schedule in 2021?

You just wait it out and/or schedule something two-three years in advance. It's got to be a totally planned thing, not a, "Hey it's August lets call Warner and see if he's available in week 4," thing.

There's no reason to do it this spring barring a HUGE donation or something crazy like that.

Then you wait. Not being in the UNI Hall of Fame isn't exactly keeping him up at night and Kurt is fully aware of what the finances look like around here.

I'm certain he wouldn't want to spend a weekend here without a financial windfall for the department either.

Lastly, with the movie and two kids in the recruiting process right now, I'm guessing that this spring isn't all free and clear either.

Or, Warner could do like he did when he first became an NFL star: come back to CF with a fanfare parade and then proceed to charge kids $10 per autograph!

God knows he didn't make enough from his NFL salary! As Kirby Puckett said, "my kids have to eat."

If people are willing to pay $10 for an autograph, what's the harm? It's not like he's handling out dime bags or demanding it at gunpoint.

Saturday's WIU game has been changed to an 11:00 AM start to accommodate the league making it the 'Valley Game of the Week on ESPN+' after Illinois State's opt out.

So start your day angry rather than going to bed angry!

Exactly! NOTHING more endearing for me to see than a young kid going up to see an NFL player and being told that he/she needs to shell out ten biggies to get an autograph.

My heart is so warm thinking of it!

Even though Warner was not a specific bidness, but who cares about those little "nuances," given our country's WIDE understanding of what capitalism is.
