This article indicates UNI is working to sign Luke Falk as the next OC.

Former All-Pac12 QB at Washington State who did some time in the NFL and CFL.

We aren't getting competitive again with two runs up the middle with a short pass on 3rd down which would be in Farley's wheelhouse. So let's hope he finds an OC that he is willing to let run the offense.
If computers ruled college basketball the way they do football, we'd have skipped all this March Madness monotony and just waited a month for the Kansas-Kentucky title game. And watched Northern Iowa play Cornell in the Poulan Weedeater Bowl. ~ Dwight Perry The Seattle Times

We’ve been hoping for that to happen with every OC he’s hired. I think it’s still going status quo, but this will be a stepping stone for Falk as he moves on after next season, unless his offensive plays scare Farley so much that he lets him go after the spring.

He let Reeder have full control. Let's let this play out.

I know we're still scarred from the Joe Davis incident but that was 9 years ago at this point.

Anyone who has watched the offense the last 2 years under Reeder and went "same old Mark" doesn't understand/watch any football - including UNI.

That wasn't my point. BC hit it correctly, if Mark doesn't trust who he puts in that role, it's going to get ugly. Let's hope he's got that behind him and that there's someone out there he's willing to let run instead of the short leash he's put on the offensive coaches in the past.

Prior to the 2022 season, I believe Clanton, Reeder and Ganz designed the offense we ran for '22 and '23 that was specifically for UNI.

A scheme and terminology that was intended to have some consistency over the years...similar to Farley's approach on D.

Interesting thing will be...how do you hire a new OC if u are trying to sustain that offensive scheme? Will a new hire be willing to accept that? How much can they tweak? (I'm sure it's not static...it has to continue to evolve regardless of who is OC)

Perhaps that's why u go after a young guy like Falk. Offer to let him come in and run the scheme...but we're not looking for u to design something completely new.

Ethan Petrik has a Twitter post out that the Luke Falk/OC deal has been completed.

He also posted that Carlton Littlejohn has joined UNI's Defensive staff. He's an ex NDSU LB who has coached at Univ of Sioux Falls and I e of the D2 schools in Minnesota.

Falk spent a few years teaching quarterbacks in a private program. That is big with Kammrad coming up and McThenia coming in. Both those guys have the potential to be very, very good.

Hard to know what playcalling looks like as he wasn't the playcaller at Wingate. I'm thinking/hoping that he's somewhere between the Air Raid he learned in college and the pro style he would have run in the NFL.

It's exciting to get a young guy!

A bit odd to move into the play calling role this early in a career.

That said, he was on 3 NFL rosters and started a few games with the Jets. So obviously he can handle an NFL playbook.

Pretty good training for calling plays in college ball.

I would think this is pretty exciting for the young QBs on UNI's roster. This ain't Tom Brady...but if u have the chance to learn from a guy who was all conference at a P5 and started games in the NFL...I think you'd take it.

The air raid offense won’t fly under Farley. He has a set scheme that he expects the OCs to follow, maybe with a few adjustments. Joe Davis’ offense was too much for Farley, which is why he was neutered before the regular season began. I wish Falk and UNI success this season, but I don’t know why Farley hires OCs that have a history of offenses that run counter to his scheme, as well as these coaches taking the job coming in knowing that they won’t be running the offense that they have been calling in their previous places other than using UNI as a stepping stone. These type of offenses which include no huddle requires talented players at a number of positions, which due to scholarship limits, transfer portal, whatever excuse we as fans or the UNI staff want to use, we can’t fill 100%. UNI gets the best of who’s left, which leads to a more conservative, basic scheme.
