Something I thought was amazing from the valley website is the number of returning starters in the league next year

Returning Starters in the MVC, last 4 years
    2009-10 -- 34 projected returning starters
    2008-09 -- 23 returned (1 NCAA, 2 NIT, 1 CBI, 3 CIT)
    2007-08 -- 24 returned (1 NCAA, 3 NIT, 1 CBI)
    2006-07 -- 38 returned (2 NCAA, 2 NIT)
    2005-06 -- 38 returned (4 NCAA, 2 NIT)

Gee, and you wonder why the league 'struggled' in the non-conference schedule the last two years and didn't really have any signature wins. It takes some time for clubs to gain experience if they aren't returning large numbers. Nice to know UNI is not going to be sluffing off on the schedule with the Paradise Jam next year. Hopefully we can pick up some nice wins there and hope that other conference teams can have good non-conference schedules as well.

Very similar to the year where we got 4 team in to the NCAA.

I see very little reason we can't get three or four teams in next year.

There are also some damn good freshman/transfers coming in next year. This league should/could have a really really high RPI

Personally, I feel that the Valley could be pretty good next year, with the fact that it has all these starters projected to return. I think that the high majors dominated this year because most of them had upperclassmen and many mid majors were young. Experience is very important for mid majors to be successful against the power schools.

Good info Clenz, thanks for posting. I'd expect the MVC to be pretty tough next year, and players like Eldridge, Stinnet, and Koch should get some national recognition. The preseason POY will probably be Eldridge, although several guys are deserving.

Any substance to the rumor I had heard about him leaving? Really wouldn't bother me one bit...

I am excited to see what Anthony James can do. I think he will end up being pretty good. Not to mention Koch jr.

Its exciting to thinking about what type of potential next year's team could have. It could be a really really great year. Problem is, they also have the potentail to only win 15 games.

I think he is exploring the option without an agent. I expect he will be back next year.
If computers ruled college basketball the way they do football, we'd have skipped all this March Madness monotony and just waited a month for the Kansas-Kentucky title game. And watched Northern Iowa play Cornell in the Poulan Weedeater Bowl. ~ Dwight Perry The Seattle Times

I hadn't heard that about Stinnet, but what about Eldridge? I vaguely remember seeing something where he said he'd be back.

There's no way Stinnet is good enough right now to get drafted. If he follows through and hires an agent, it must be another reason (sick of school, problem with Altman, etc.).

I am interested in seeing James as well. I've been hearing that he has been the fastest guy on the floor during practices this past season. His defensive skills are the thing I would be most concerned about with him.

My bad. Missed that in the quote. I haven't heard anything other than the usually gripes about him and his conflicts with the staff there.

I think you guys took that the wrong way. I thought I had heard something about Stinnet transferring. So I guess you were right, he wouldn't need an agent...
