Incoming Recruits

Hey all. I haven't heard much about the four guys that we've signed. Those of you that follow recruiting closely, can you give us the scoop on the four new faces we will be seeing next year? Are they all on scholarship? Are any expected to make an immediate impact? Any that we would expect to redshirt right away? By my count the guys we've signed are:

Luke McDonnell
Spencer Haldeman
Justin Dahl
Aarias Austin

What say you, recruiting gurus?

Haldeman is a definite redshirt. Needs weight, but is a really nice scorer and will be a combo guard for us going forward.

McDonnell is a highly skilled 4. He needs weight and may redshirt because of it, but like Lohaus, I'm not sure he doesn't force his way onto the floor in year one. Will play the swing 4. Had late interest from Wisconsin and is 3-star on Rivals.

Dahl is a 6-10 240 wide body that dominates defensively and on the glass, but plays in a medium sized school in Minnesota. Body is definitely ready, but I think they'd redshirt him if they can. Will depend on where Koch, Friedman, and Carlson are.

Austin is a long, athletic 6-4 Combo guard. Will play immediately.

Conrey is a really skilled forward. Should be able to contribute by year 3. Hasn't played the best AAU competition and played on a terrible high school team, so its really hard to know exactly where he's at. Had an Upper Iowa offer and multiple JUCOs.

I'm pretty curious about Austin. I'm guessing he's a really good defender, given Jake's coaching philosophy. They're also probably projecting him to contribute significant minutes right away, otherwise there's no need to bring him in. Another long, athletic defender to go with Morgan can't hurt. The MVC is such a guard driven league. Even if he's a little offensively challenged at this level, that's OK as long as Morgan and Lohaus continue to improve.

That Northeastern Roster is loaded. Haldeman, McDonnell, Conrey plus Velky, Steinbron (Upper Iowa) and Adam McDermott (South Dakota).
