Get past the date on that clause, but now we didn't.
Don't think it would have mattered if this is one of Jake's two, Bo announced he was leaving earlier this year so Jake has known this would be a possibility.

Doesn't mean they wouldn't be looking at him, but this Wisconsin-based info. doesn't even have Jake as someone in their top 5....

Another from the Badger Herald - again, Jake isn't even mentioned, but guess which Valley coach is?....

Give us a yell, HO! The purple and the gold
      Victory for U-N-I!

Find out what the other team wants to do, then take it away from them.

There are also probably plenty of back channel ways he'd know it too. Wisconsin boosters reaching out to his agent/business associates...calling his cell, etc. If anyone semi connected to Wisconsin is interested in him, then he's probably known for some time.

Exactly my point. Bo waiting to announce past the date in Jake's clause has no impact on whether this school/vacancy might or might not be on his list, he'd likely know about any vacancy-or in this case, it was already in the public.

Obviously the first order of business for the new UNI AD is finding a way to bump Jakes salary up to $2.5 million. We have to be competitive.

Not to toot my own horn, but "someone" whom we all know and love said that he wouldn't even be on the radar months ago, when the news of this coaching change first broke.

Of course, and, as always, "he" didn't know what he was talking about.

Even a broken clock is right twice a day

(and it still might not be right - maybe Wisconsin folks don't really know what the AD is thinking behind the scenes whatsoever)

We shouldn't and can't pay a coach that much. If that's how much he wants just need to hire the right replacement.

Yes, we've already reached the absurd level, no need to literally double and a half down on that!

Short sighted. That's what people said when Mac left to go to ISU for less than we are paying Jake now. People said we would never be able to pay a coach that level at UNI and here we are. We need to get ahead of the curve for once instead of always playing catch up.

Doesn't Troy Dannen leaving make it rather difficult to renegotiate if needed to keep Jake?

I think some of you are maybe a little too worried. Some Wisconsin friends who follow this downplayed Jake's chances. They're thinking Gaard, with a few other guys mentioned, but no Jake. Nobody in the fanbase or press is doing the actual hiring, but lack of mention might be a good leading indicator.

You would think that those trees have already been shaken pretty hard, but then I thought that the last contract was a stretch.

Could be tough for an interim "tree shaker". Must have new shaker + time to build relationships, unless some rich family is just crazy for UNI and doesn't need special coaxing by anyone!!

Hope we don't need to address this while cost of attendance & Dome improvements (+ practice facility, West gym work?) are bubbling near the surface.

Does anyone really want to work for Barry Alvarez? Yuck!
