I think there were more Iowa fans at that interview than at most of last season's home games.

    Sorry SOBs.

When your AAU coach is an Iowa grad, Iowa has a new coach who has had some success, and Iowa is in the Big Ten, I can see why you might pick Iowa.

I would rather he didn't, but I understand how a 17 year old kid with no loyalty towards UNI could pick Iowa.

          Re: Uthoff trims his list...

I posted this in the Den, but I think I'll post it here too. This is my thoughts, heading into tomorrow's decision. I really don't know what will happen, but here are my summarized thoughts.
          --------------------------------

So, we've heard that Uthoff wants to play close to home, but, that's not the only thing. He's also said:

“It’s going to come down to my relationship with the (prospective) coaches and my teammates,” Uthoff said.
I can't find the link, but I'm pretty sure he mentioned that he wanted to play for a 'system' program that allowed him to push the ball, but also run set plays. I seriously have looked for the past 20 minutes and can't find that link. If anyone can, please post it.

With all that said, I think UNI still has a strong chance at Jarrod. UNI has only been able to get one commit who had BCS offers (well 2, Travis Brown had a Nebraska offer), and that was Adam Koch (West Virginia). To get a kid with multiple BCS offers would be impressive. To be in the final 6 is something else. Remember that there was reports that Jarrod was going to choose between UNI and Creighton after the State Tourney. Well, he didn't, so he's still in the deciding phases. But of those two, who still remains? UNI. Of the teams he could choose from, UNI, Iowa, ISU, Wisconsin are the closest to home. Of those teams, who has he had the longest established relationship with? UNI. Of those teams, who has a stable program? UNI and Wisconsin. Of those teams, who has fellow AAU (or similar background teammates)? UNI and Iowa. I think, as we continue to go through the process in what he wants, UNI continues to come into play. An hour from home, good relationship with coaches, similar background teammates, good academics, could be the 'big fish' and still not feel overwhelmed. Iowa played with him in the spring before offering. He didn't pull the trigger when Wisconsin offered, if he had a strong desire to go to an established Big Ten program. He sees where ISU just signed Royce White (also, look at their team, who on there can he relate to? There aren't any Iowa guys).

We'll know by tomorrow, but the bottom line is, I think UNI has a strong chance...but this kid has been a tough one to figure out. Has been very private from the beginning.
The Lord reigns, let the earth be glad; let the distant shores rejoice, clouds and thick darkness surround Him; righteousness and justice are the foundation of His throne. Fire goes before Him, and consumes his foes on every side; His lightning lights up the world; the earth sees and trembles; the mountains melt like wax before the Lord of all the earth. The heavens proclaim His righteousness and all peoples will see His glory.

He would be a great get. Our front court with Uthoff and Tuttle (and the current crew of Rank, Buss, etc.) would be outstanding.
TH1974: This guy was all-UNI, and wanted to show it by pretending to play a non-existant musical instrument in public.

This won't happen but how sweet would it be if jarrod, Josh, or one of the other 2011 commits took a 4 fir 5 and we landed both jarrod and josh

well put PTTB. i have no solid info but i have this feeling that jarrod really likes UNI and iowa the best. its gonna come down to playing in a smaller conference for a known commodity or being a guy that helped turn around iowa and play on national TV every game.

It's true, if he wants to play against great competition he should go to Iowa. If however he wants to be great competition he should go to UNI.

Ask Ali Farokmanesh what kind of exposure you can get at UNI...

Hmmmm.....beating UNLV & KU on national TV, playing in front of 40k at the Edward Jones Dome, the Dan Patrick Show and every other nationally sydicated sports talk show, cover of Sports Illustrated, on stage at the ESPYs.

Now ask Matt Gatens what kind of exposure he's gotten at Iowa.

I swear a few of you guys can't separate fact from fiction.
                    National TV. Every game. Fact.

I don't like it either, but if you think the level of exposure a player with (even long-shot) dreams of playing in the NBA can get in the Big Ten is the same as the level of exposure he can get in the MVC, you're high.

i cant really blame him consider we already have two commits that play his projected position.

Johnson is an iowa grad, so there is a small bias I am sure, but you are nuts if you think he doesn't respect uni and do what is best for his kids.
I apologize if coach Johnson is actually pro UNI in most situations and sends us good athletes. I don't know the guy from the MBB coach at App State. The statements in that article, taken word for word were not very positive on UNI or our success.

                            Honest question:

Who has this kid listed as a top 75 player, or top 150 for that matter? I knew this kid had some decent offers, but I didn't realize he was a 4 star type prospect.

he isnt rated by rivals yet, but ive seen several lists that have him that high. i am guessing he will be between 75-100 when the RSCI numbers come out.

Can you post a couple of links? It would be nice to look at a list or 2 not from rivals or scout.

He's not in the Rivals Top 150 for 2011, but I'm not sure how that all works. If he was a Top 100 type player, I would assume they would have him "rated" but I'm not an expert.
