    Re: Uthoff trims his list...

I think his decision is UNI. It would be great to have him!

How come there is little game video available to watch recruits? I would think that lots of people interested in helping out recruits would post videos of players they like.

I don't like it either, but if you think the level of exposure a player with (even long-shot) dreams of playing in the NBA can get in the Big Ten is the same as the level of exposure he can get in the MVC, you're high.
You're high with that statement. If you can play, the league will find you. I know some pro scouts (NFL). They look through every BS program on the planet to find talent. I'm sure the NBA is no different. If you don't make the NBA, it's because you're not good enough, not because you didn't get enough exposure. I hope to hell the next thing I don't read is that Eric Sanders should be in the NFL. Don't mean to jump on you News, but if a guy is good enough to play in the league, he'll play.

He's not in the Rivals Top 150 for 2011, but I'm not sure how that all works. If he was a Top 100 type player, I would assume they would have him "rated" but I'm not an expert.

If Duke, NC, KU or Texas came in and offered him, he would become a top 150 recruit. Committing to UNI or ISU, not so much.

While the Big Ten Network can technically be called "national," I tend to reserve that for the ESPN/CBS type games. I think UNI was on the big time networks at least as much, if not more than Iowa last season.

Certainly the Big Ten can offer more exposure, but talent always finds a way to shine through if the NBA is his goal.

IF the NBA is the goal, then he should sign with the Mayor, because everyone knows that is the way to get to the show. Just read the ISU press releases, they prove it.

For one, NY2LA has him at #71.

This is exactly right. Playing on national TV has other benefits, but this isn't one of them.

40+ Million homes is significant enough to be considered national, IMO.

Did anyone read where he would be announcing his decision?

I think he just said that he was going to be calling the coaches and telling them where he would be playing. Nothing big, like LaBron.
You will likely hear the announcement through a press release from the school.

When it comes to exposure in the world of college BB it's all about the big dance.

The BTN is lucky to get a few hundred thousand people watching a typical MBB game. The first and second round games draw an audience of about 10 million.

If players are concerned about getting noticed, they need to be on a team that wins, not a team in a big conference.

Schools can't talk to the media about someone who hasn't signed a NLI.

It would have to come from Uthoff, his family, or coaches.

is a player going to face better competition and get better playing against iowa and indiana or evansville and the sycamores? my vote is for the high majors, although there are exceptions to every rule. is gordon hayward a lottery pick if he goes to Purdue instead of BUtler? I dont know.

i will argue with anyone that the top MVC teams would be competitive in a major conference but the talent at the very top and bottom of the leagues are better in "high-major" conferences.

if i am jarrod uthoff, i go to UNI unless I truly love hoiberg or mccaffery more than jake.
