Dayton Forsythe from Dale, Oklahoma visiting tomorrow. Only offers at this point look to be lower mid-majors.

To avoid confusion - my username is baseball (Cy Young award) related, NOT for the Cyclones.

Definitely a baller. Skilled in all areas, ball handling, passing, creating, mid range and long range shooting, ability to get to the rim and finish...didn't see much defense on his highlights. My concern is he's only 6'2" and we're starting to get too many shorter guards. You can get by with one or two guys under 6'3" but when you've got 4 or 5 on the roster it becomes a problem. I'm not sure we'd be able to play Dayton along side RJ, for example.

I see your point but we're also going to have two years of RJ and Born playing together so we'd actually get taller with this kid.

We have had much more success with smaller more skilled players then taller "more athletic" players who are less skilled overall. So often these smaller guards have been playing against bigger competition their whole life they understand how to get their shot and aren't impacted by others height, and are able to stay in front of guys on the defensive end.

We will also have Trey Campbell mixing in quite a bit and he's a long 6'4" in the backcourt. I wouldn't be surprised if they mix and match them and Heise quite a bit to keep them all fresh.

Cade Courbat is up to 6-8 and ranked Tonight's WCF Courier... nationally in the '24 class per Prep Hoops.

He's got to be targets 1-10 at this point. We have to get that one done.

That's my point. It's going to be tough playing Bowen and RJ together, and my guess is it won't happen very often, but if you add Dayton you'll have no choice but to have two smaller guards on the floor together a lot. Even if he's taller than those two, he's still a small guard for D1 ball.

Not sure how to respond to this, just none of it is true.
Just because we've had success with a few smaller guards doesn't mean it's a good idea to fill your roster with them.
And they haven't been playing against taller players their whole life, they've mostly been playing against average high school players. Yes they've played a lot of AAU ball against higher level competition but not the likes of which they'll see in the MVC.
I actually like Dayton as a player and would want him outside of this roster issue, but I think it could make our offense easier to defend.

I'm guessing they didn't offer Forsythe on his visit...

Nope. We may only have one ride and you figure it's Courbat's until he says no.

Possibly. But they do have two other offers out for this class, With Jackson McAndrew and Colin White. Colin White is a stud. Jackson McAndrew looks like a baby deer with potential. White and Derek Vorst play AAU ball together, and Vorst was offered for the 2023 class. I kind of wonder if they are trying to get a package deal going.

Didn't Chase sit on his offer for an abnormally long time and finally accepted when nothing better came along by his Sr year?
