  • 2024 Offseason Portal Rumors

Figured we'll need a thread for the off-season recruiting of players in the transfer portal. Lord knows we'll have to be busy this year!
Let's hope we land a few good ones!

MVC related, totally unconfirmed rumor…Darian DeVries is one of the leading candidates at Oklahoma State. A guy who claims connections on one of the Iowa sites said he’d heard there were back channel conversations going on involving both Darian and Tucker. I thought nothing of it, (message board rumor), but tonight an Oklahoma State blog site is saying kind of the same thing. Smoke and fire??? Who knows?

This came up on an Iowa Hawk site since there’s a chunk of their fanbase who would like to see Fran retire and Darian backfill his position.

It looks like we might be looking at Max Weisbrod. He’s transferring from D2 Northern Michigan. He’s a guard who appears to be a pretty good scorer.

From what I can pull up on him, he looks like a similar player to Nate. He was POY in his conference as a Sophomore, so that's impressive. Averaged over 17ppg, I wouldn't call that "prolific", but he can score.
Fits the mold of a UNI recruit. I was hoping for more athletic players, not more of the same, but i wouldn't hate it.

He seems more "wired to score" than Nate, but yes I largely agree they seem very similar. If he's the only guy they get I would be disappointed, but I'm expecting that won't be the case.

Physically he looks like a carbon copy of Nate.
To avoid confusion - my username is baseball (Cy Young award) related, NOT for the Cyclones.

Looks like he can put the ball in the bucket and is a better 3 point shooter than Nate, obviously in the D2 realm, but if that translates, he'd be a good get.

Need that lightning quick guy. That's an absolute must. Max isn't it.

We've got 4 scholarships to work with. This is, most likely, only the first guy we are going after.

Looks like we may be looking at Isaiah Gray from Cornell as well. Averaged 10 ppg this year.

Season stats for Gray are 60% from the field, 24% from 3, and quite a bit of rebounding and assists to add in also. He seems like he is quick and had a massive dunk in their game vs Ohio St.

Gray also has a year of eligibility left and would be grad transfer status. Could bring some excellent experience into this squad. He "entered" the portal back in February due to the rules of the Ivy League so who knows how long he's been contacted by us.

Gray would fit the mold we're looking for of quick and aggressive guard. He's also from Brooklyn, so the posters looking for someone not originally recruited by us, and from an urban background would be thrilled. Lol

I think we need some urban posters who have gone through adversity on the panther nation forum.
