Re: Up Next: Southern Illinois
What do you want us to say? We're just doing enough stupid crap to lose. The three games we lost we should have won but didn't--even against the Cows.
Mainly the defense (for the most part) and special teams have been setting it up for the Offense but the "O" isn't doing it's job with great field position.
Last game, Stevie stothers average about 40 yards (5 KO returns--199 yards ) per run-back against YSU yet the "O" did not accept the gift. Good luck in the play-offs.

"We'll find out," said the UNI coach. "We'll just take this day-to-day and see what we can get him back to throughout the week."
Farley added, "We'll wait and see what happens this week."
paMANther wrote this in another thread about it: "I was listening to the Bob Bruce Radio Experience on my way home from work and Mark Farley was on there and he said that today (Wednesday) Ben Boothby was upgraded from doubtful to questionable for the game on Saturday"
BUT THIS IS FUN TO READ:
"The Jackrabbit defense concentrated on stopping quarterback Tirrell Rennie's running game and largely succeeded. Rennie gained just 13 yards on 10 carries, his lowest total of the year.
SDSU, though, paid a heavy price for that commitment. When it walked up a safety for run support, Rennie used a play-action pass to connect with Jarred Herring for an 80-yard touchdown play. It was one of four touchdown passes for Rennie, who completed 16 of 20 attempts Saturday."
Defenses can play up on Rennie but he's just going to beat you deep. Defenses will have to respect the run and the pass SDSU learned that lesson.Last edited by UNI Fight; 10-20-2011, 08:43 AM.GO PANTHERS!

The Hawkeyes and their fans do not give a crap if you remain "true to them" or some stupid self-fulfulling bullcrap like that.-OTP

The classic 2007 game is still my favorite UNI game ever.

Re: Up Next: Southern Illinois
TSN take............
Southern Illinois Salukis (2-4, 1-3 MVC) at No. 2 Northern Iowa Panthers (5-1, 4-0), 4 p.m. (Panther Sports Television)
Series record: Northern Iowa leads, 15-14
Last meeting: at Southern Illinois 45, Northern Iowa 38 (Oct. 9, 2010)
What to know: The Panthers may be the No. 2-ranked team in the country, but Southern Illinois has had their number the past couple seasons. Winning the past three games, by a combined 17 points, the Salukis' seniors will be looking for a clean sweep against their Missouri Valley rival.
Northern Iowa quarterback Tirrell Rennie (1,064 yards, nine TDs) has yet to throw an interception this season on 121 attempts. To date, just the Panthers, Georgia Southern and Cal Poly have yet to toss a pick.
Running back David Johson, a recent addition to the Jerry Rice Award (sponsored by Fathead.com) Watch List, joins Rennie in the backfield. Johnson leads the Panthers in rushing yards (85 ypg) and total touchdowns (eight).
Prediction: Northern Iowa 31, Southern Illinois 24Feel the Power of Purple !!!!!!

Re: Up Next: Southern Illinois
I have seen this no INTs mention about UNI, GA Southern & Cal Poly before. I think this greatly discounts what Rennie & his receivers has done to date.
Rennie has completed more passes that GSU has attempted.
Rennie ATT 128 COMP 79
CAL Poly ATT 95 COMP 56
GSU ATT 62 COMP 35

Re: Up Next: Southern Illinois
I heard that Qadaffi had bet his family fortune on SIU because Boothby wasn't able to play.
When Qadaffi heard the news that Boothby had been upgraded from doubtful to questionable , Qadaffi fainted and then ran into the rebels arms.
In addition, rumor has it that CA ran BB across the 'pond', where Boothby picked up Qadaffi while Anderson delivered Qadaffi to the rebels.... When CA and BB returned the news of the deposed dictator had not even broken... (about an hour and a half later is when CNN reported Qadaffi's capture)
BTW, they only missed five minutes of practiceG-N-D
