So the plane news was garbage? LOL. Wow. Atrocious hire. 29-32 at Drake. Never coached at the scholarship level. Was 2-9 & 3-8 in '21 & '22. I was down on Farley as much as anyone, but what a slap in the face this is to him. And Megan Franklin is grandma alright. She is so far over her head it isn't funny. This school isn't interested in winning in men's sports any more. It's obvious.Comment

Not going to lie, I am a bit disappointed. This is an underwhelming hire IMO. The connection with the AD is obvious, and to his credit he has had success the last two years. Took a program (in Drake) that had winning seasons 14 of 15 years and went 13-25 over his first four seasons. The last two years have been great, and Drake has been as good as they have ever been these last two seasons. But he is very unproven and this will be by far the highest level in which has ever been involved as a coach or player. Was never a head coach before Drake, and all his experience before Drake was as an assistant in D2 and D3. He played at the D2 level as well.
Doesn't mean he can't be successful, but as much as I want to, it is difficult to get excited about this. He has a lot to prove. I, obviously, have no inside information and I have no idea how the process went down. But from the outside looking in it really looks like we made the easy hire and not necessarily the best one.
All that said, all you can do is give him a chance and hope he proves me and all the other haters wrong.Comment

Sounds like most of the big-name candidates dropped out due to financial issues. They didn't think UNI has what it takes ($$$) to compete in the FCS.Comment
