just heard from a guy who works for the team. He said that the GM coach APOLOGIZED to coach Jake for the horrible refs. He literally said that. That is kind of crazy

That wouldn't surprise me, unfortunately. We have some decent refs but far too many suck, including those who worked this game.

(And in a tiny nitpick, our school is referred to as "GMU", "Mason" or "George Mason", but never "GM". No reason you guys would know this, though.)

I'd rather see that than the MVC/MWC challenge, especially with BYU leaving the MWC. Does the CAA have a challenge with another conference?
Preach it!! We've wanted this since our first experience with Wichita State 5 years ago. We don't have a challenge with anyone, and I believe our two conferences would match up well, year to year.

We have our own board http://boards.caazone.com/forumdisplay.php?f=8, but we enjoy the game, and when we travel, we like to meet (electronically speaking) fans of other teams. It's part of the fun.

We need to replace BB with the MVC / BB challenge. I say we keep the MWC challenge too.

Last night they showed a stat, MVC has the most wins in BB history, and has received a whopping 5 at larges since BB's inception. Something must change. The CAA has the second highest winning percentage after the MVC in the BB, what has it done for them? How many at larges have they got? The BB is a joke and helps no one. If GM loses last night their season is over unless they win in their Conference Tourny, if we won last night it changed nothing.

I think if you guys would have won it would have been a solid win for your resume. To beat a team with a low 20 something RPI is a good win. I think that we won on the road to a good team also helps us add to our resume. I would say that alot of sports writers had us getting a bid whether we lost or won this game. Thats all up for debate but I dont think if we lost it meant he had to win our tourney. If you guys play like that, I would think you would win your tourney!

I thought this was funny too - if UNI has been anything the last few years, it's a physical, grind-it-out team in a physical, grind-it-out conference. Can't say I blame him, though. I wouldn't have a clue how teams in the CAA play, either, because I just don't watch any b-ball from that league.

Many boos were directed at the ref who stopped play. Not sure on the rule. #45 does like to garner attention, tho.

I don't know fellas, but I have been around awhile and watched plenty of MVC and B10 basketball, and George Mason rivaled Bradley in their bush league behaviors. I am not saying 'thug' or anything like that, which is bordering on something else. Using 'hood' in the OP is pathetic, to be honest. Simply put, they lacked a certain class that should match their performance. The jumping on the logo doesn't bother me as much as the reason they were doing it. I think good ole 45 is pretty good, and pretty much an ass on the court.

They are good and it was a great game. Good luck to them the rest of the way.

Re: George Mason = Straight outa the hood

If this GMU team doesn't get into the tourney if they don't win their conference tournament, it's a travesty. What has happened with the committee? Between UNI getting a 9 seed and all the talk of Mid-Major teams on the bubble this year, what does a team at this level have to do to be worthy of an at-large? I mean, GMU has five losses! 5! There's no question they are a tournament team. Is the NCAA afraid of all the publicity they get when teams like GMU, UNI and Butler make runs they are "not supposed to"? It makes me sick.

                    Sorry for the rant.

I agree with this post a million times over.

To use ban_basketball's favorite word GMU was very bush league with the way they acted, and I felt more than once that they had players that should have been T'ed up. I also felt Jake should have been T'ed up at one point in the first half, I believe it was. I also think he was looking for a T.

There was more than a couple times GMU players "threw a punch" into the gut of a screener they were going around, #45 flopped like crazy more than once and should have been called for hand checks about 500 times during the game, also celebrating on the logo rather than shaking hands at the end of the game WAS classless. Do that after the handshakes and what not if it is going to happen. It looked like Jake actually skipped shaking hands with those that celebrated like that. I've also never saw Jake look so pissed walked off the court.

Now, GMU is a hell of a team, and they should do well the rest of the year.

It's tough to win games when we commit 10-13 fouls in a half before the other team commits 3 or 4 no matter who we are playing.

Re: George Mason = Straight outa the hood

I agree. What do the "Mid-Major" teams have to do to gain respect from the committee and media? It's frustrating. Last year I remember North Carolina was like 13-10, and the ESPN experts were saying, "Well, they're not out of it yet. They've still got a chance to make the tourney." If UNI or George Mason were 13-10, the experts wouldn't even give us a thought. Also, wasn't Michigan State ranked in the top 25 this year with a 12-7 record? George Mason is 23-5 and still not ranked?!?!

On a brighter note, I'm laughing hard at the fact that all top 4 teams lost this week. I'm sure the media experts will give excuses for them, and they'll say things like, "A loss is actually a good thing. It takes the pressure off. It makes them a better team." That's what Colin Cowherd was saying after Ohio State's first loss a week ago. Yeah, sure looks like they're a better team after that loss.

I laugh when I hear all the ESPN people talking about Michigan State. They had won like 1 game in the last month, and were barely over .500. Yet, they can go out and beat a equally mediocre Illinois team at home, and now they are back "in" the tournament. What a joke...

68 teams are making the tournament. You can't put together a reasonable bracket today without MSU in it.

Our crowd was pretty disappointing last night. I felt like I was in Carver Hawkeye.

The crowd did not boo the injured player. They booed the guy who writhed on the floor in agony but jumped up and ran off the court once the official stopped play.

I had no problem with GMs players, coaches, or fans.

The CAA officials were great in the first half, but seemed to lean GMs way towards the end. I defended them all night and tried to get people to realize how lame it was to boo EVERY call, but towards the end they made a lot of calls I couldn't defend.
