    Re: Stay till the end

    I call BS.

Been going to games since I was two and we've never waited longer than 15-20 minutes and that's incredibly rare.

I guess you weren't at the SDSU and Loyola games and parked in the back of C lot. I've never waited this long either and I have been going to games for many years now but this year has been bad for some reason. I don't know if they have changed what they are doing with the stop lights or something.

I can honestly say that I've waited 45 minutes. I don't remember what game it was, but to say it's never happened is just not true. Maybe it's just never happened to you.

Let me be clear here though... I'll wait as long as I have to. It's worth it.

          Re: Stay till the end

if UNI wouldn't have had the autograph session after the game on Sunday I would have packed my family of four up (wife, I, four year old and seven year old) with about 5 minutes left in the game and a 15 point lead.

We all know those coaches are going to foul and drag out that last five minutes. ESPN is going to throw in 3 commercial breaks, and the parking lot (at best 15 minutes) issue which doesn't just end when you get to hudson road. The stop and go traffic goes to 20. Leaving at the five minute mark gets me home almost 45 minutes earlier. If its a 3:00pm tip that gets my kids in bed at a regular bed time. If its a 7:00pm tip that gets me off the road and home by midnight.

Should I just not come next time?

I park in the West Gym lot, in front of the music building, or if those are full in the A lot between Rider and Gilchrist. Then walk across the pedestrian bridge. A slightly longer walk, but you drive right out of the main university entrance with no waiting.

I usually park in the A lot across the street from the Dome. Cut through the building and over the bridge... Pretty easy to get out from there after the game.

That's exactly what I would do.

                  Re: Stay till the end

I always park in the parking lots by the power plant, stay until the final horn, and I have never waited more than 5 minutes to leave that parking lot. Maybe I'm just lucky that my seats are in a corner relatively close to a McLeod Center exit.
However, I did park in the gravel lots just south of the McLeod across 27th street for one game last year (VCU) and it probably took 45 minutes to get out that day.

If we want to keep coach Jacobson after this year the culture has to change. WHEN A GOOD THING IS GONE ITS TO LATE. This team is so special. PLEASE support the team.

                      Re: Stay till the end

I'm thinking the issues being related for this year correspond with the $5 ticket games. A lot of people who don't normally come to games and aren't familiar with the flow to get out of the lots adds to the confusing and congestion.

That said, it works very well when people use common sense and courtesy by alternating turns and letting cars get out of parking spots instead of rushing forward for that extra spot!

p.s.-I always stay to the end to support the team, especially in a blow out when little-used players like Max Martino and Robert Knar get some court time. Can always listen to Gary on the Postgame to pass the time, which is rarely too long.

                          Re: Stay till the end

I think the people that wait until the end of the game and chill out for awhile actually have a much better time getting out, it sounds like. I've never waited 45 minutes to get out. I've waited 20 - 30, though. But we know the parking lot and figure it is easier and more comfortable to wait inside and talk with friends than sit in a cold car watching people "push and shove" in their cars. I do wish they would pipe in the post game show over the speakers, though. It would make it even better. The only reason I head to my car in a hurry is if I want to hear the post game.

                            Re: Stay till the end

We generally don't leave early if its a close game or a day game, but night games we usually try to leave with about a minute left if the games decided already as we bring our 2 young boys to the game and getting them in bed as you can sneak out the left side of the dome lot and don't have to wait. I don't mind waiting, but its nice to get the boys in bed 20-30 minutes earlier!

First, we need traditions at the end of games that make you want to stay, such as football players singing the school song to the fans.

Second, what is the hurry to leave and get out of the parking lot? I like the parking lot time to listen to the post-game. If the traffic exits too quickly, I get home before the post-game is done and end up sitting the driveway anyway.
