Last year our BENCH consisted of Paul Jesperson, Wes Washpun, Nate Buss, and Wyatt Lohaus. Thats crazy good talent and depth for UNI and is lightyears ahead of what it used to be.

R&B is right though, in that it needs to continue trending upward.
It does need to continue to trend up. I hope in a decade we can look back at guys like Wyatt, Deon, Buss, etc.. and debate "would they see the floor on this team".

However, the say that it's been a "slow build" in terms of talent is pretty false. Maybe at the end of the bench it's been slower, but the top 4-5 guys are pretty much always trending up.

Look at the roster from 2005-2006. How many of those guys even get offers from UNI at this point?

Eric Coleman - talent wise, probably. Attitude wise? I don't know.
      Michael Williams - no
      Everette Pedesclaux - no
      Brian Haak - no
John Little - doubt it, probably no
      Adam Viet - no
      Jared Josten - no
      Mason Stewart - no
Travis Brown - doubt it, probably not
      Brooks McKowen - maybe
      Grant Stout - yes
      Tyler Griffin - no
      Austin Howard - no
      Atila Santos - hell no

There is one...maybe outside shot at 2 or 3...on that entire roster that even gets seriously recruited by this current UNI program.

That's not a knock on any of those players. I had interactions with most of them on campus. They were all, for the most part, great guys. Most of them are still great ambassadors for UNI. It's just the reality of where the program is going.

I love that we had 2 NFL players on the 2005 bball roster.

I don't think Jake recruits Eric Coleman at this point.

Don't think we'd get away with having a 6'6 center again.

Why not? We played with a 6'8" one last year and go with a 6'7" guy in their this year at points.

And I think Travis Brown would get looks. Played in the NCAAs as a freshman and as a senior under two different coaches. He'd be a role player, but he'd get looks depending on who else we had.

Ben Jacobson coached teams = 2

Otherwise, let's see if we can find someone who can fill in the gap year we've created in scholarships by redshirting the entire freshman class this year.
I am worried about the 1 position next year. This year we had Wes to make the transition from Deon, but we are 1 deep in that spot...can we get the ball up the court without Wes yes, but add some good defensive pressure and I'm not so certain. Wyatt does great at the 2 and does okay at the 1, but not to the point where I see him starting in that roll next year which leaves us with a Freshman or a Redshirt Freshman.

I am concerned about the back court all together we are getting really front court heavy.

We really need to fill Austin's scholarship with a quality backcourt player, next year I only see Jeremy and Wyatt coming back, I expect Brown and McCloud to contribute, hopefully Haldeman is ready, but I still think we need another backcourt player

Yea, I think we live with Haldeman/Mccloud/Wyatt handling the PG duties. We need an experienced wing on the team to go along with Morgan. IMO

I think its either Brown or McClould next season, that or someone plays for a year and then redshirts. Otherwise you have 6 seniors leaving in 4 years

Wut? Two NFL players on the basketball roster? For us newcomers, who were they?

What about Robert*Knar? Anyone know why he is not seeing any playing time? His recruiting profile lists him as a true point guard. Looks like he is the only player without a redshirt not seeing any playing time.

                            Everette Pedescleaux and Austin Howard.

Big E was a dominant DL who had some sniffs at the NFL

Austin started as a TE with us then moved to T and is currently with the Raiders.

                              Wow. That is fascinating.

I said earlier that it will take "sending players to the NBA" to get the attention of national-caliber recruits.

Having guys in the NFL is pretty cool. Who else sends basketball players to the NFL?
