I think we can still get to 20 wins this season. At least 11 conference games left plus a run to the NCAA Sweet 16, we can do it!

Re: 20 Wins
Not a chance this season. We have a 6 man rotation, don't have a true point guard to run the show, don't get to enough rebounds (30 per game), shoot as many 3's as 2 point shots, 11 assists to 12 turnovers, shoot 34% from 3 range, a quick guard team would have us for lunch, our guards don't close out to the arc quick enough and get beat off of the dribble. An 8th seed in the NIT next season might be doable with a good recruiting class (Phyfe/capable 3 guard). This season we'll go 13-18 with a pounding in the quarter final round in St Louis to WSU. We might be at least 3 years out from making the Dance. Oh BTW, teamrankings.com has us 133rd.Last edited by Pantherlope2019; 01-22-2017, 02:20 PM.

I think we'll finish better than that, but I doubt we get to 20 winsOriginally posted by Pantherlope2019 View PostNot a chance this season. I'm there with you. I know the OP was being extremely optimistic but I'm not buying an umbrella for the falling sky like the other dude is. Seems like deja vu from last yearOriginally posted by orangetennis View PostI think we'll finish better than that, but I doubt we get to 20 wins

I'll help...Originally posted by Pantherlope2019 View PostSo, break down our strengths, smart dude?......
-We have one of the best players in the conference.
-Ashton is playing at all conference level, much better than anyone expected
-Koch has been playing better, albeit frustrating at times.
-Klint made some shots yesterday. If he gets going we are dangerous (see last year)
-Emergence of Luke as an option
-Spencer plays with poise for a freshman and has made big shots
Obviously I don't expect us to do anything crazy this year but we're better than 8th.

Re: 20 Wins
We don't attack the rim off dribble penetration. Therefore, we don't see the opponent zoning us because their guards cover ours. The result is we are a 3 point shooting team that only hits 34%. I have at times seen us do better with ball reversal passing and passing into the paint, but Koch catches the ball too far out and the coaches won't allow him to use the turn around jump shot. The result has been too many turnovers by Koch trying to pass out of the double team. Koch has good shooting form for a post player. At the defensive end our guards are too slow to close out on the arc and get taken off of the dribble. Teams win when the guards stop dribble penetration and close out on shooters. A prime example would be SUI in the 1990's/2000s. Our bigs have to rotate to help the guards and have the potential for foul trouble. Not to be harsh, but I think Carlson does the best at getting to the rim and he's a power forward. McCloud needs a shooting coach, yesterday... BTW, I picked us 7th... Illinois State wins the MVC... We only go 6 deep. This takes the press out of the game plan. We have had success with various forms of the press. Dahl continues to ride the bench and could be out there developing post up moves, however, he is too slow in the man to man and Freidman gets the nod... Our recruiting budget is far too limited and impedes us from solving the problem. When we get kids from the Twin Cities, Milwaukee, Kansas City, St. Louis, and Chicago they are from the suburbs. Its been a long time since Jason Daisey, Brian Carpenter, or Randy Blocker... The coach that got them can be found at UNC Pembroke... BTW, our best BB coach by far... The #2 is Norm Stewart and #3 works in Omaha...Originally posted by DownGoesKansas View PostI'll help...

Re: 20 Wins
I'd be happy if we end up around .500 in conference, thrilled if we're over .500.
Even if we won out (regular season) we'd still need two postseason wins to get to 20. I'm as excited as anybody about the three game win streak, but I just cannot see this offensively challenged roster doing what last year's team did.

At this time last year, could you see last year's team doing what it did?

Re: 20 Wins
Interesting ideas. Bench McCloud this year and then redshirt him next year so he can develop, but play Dahl right now so he can develop?Originally posted by Pantherlope2019 View PostWe don't attack the rim off dribble penetration.
