Wow! You actually got the point... Now tell me why Koch can't compare to any bigs in those power 5 leagues... Oh, the MVC is a guard league...

Thought I heard something about Doyle being the first Chicago Public School player for Loyola in a long time.

Cincinnati in 1961 and 1962. Drake in 1969. Wichita State in 2013. What do you think the ACC, Big Ten, Big 12, Pac 12, and the SEC look like with inner city, JC, and Prep School kids? Oh, quite a few Final Fours out them there power 5 schools...
So, you were proven wrong so you moved the goalposts into the next county...

I wasn't proven wrong in the least... The point is we'll never get the inner city, JC, Prep School, Suburb, or small town kids to win... The MVC is a guard oriented league and we can't develop bigs to compete with the best schools... The furthest we've been is at the D2 level 4th place with Coach Stewart in the mid 1960's... 1964 to be exact... We went 23-4 in the 63-64 season... UNI was called State College of Iowa in 1964...

It's going to take in the range of 3-6 years before we get to the Dance. Of course that would be assuming Coach Jake sticks around that long... Now, next season the NIT is in play. Maybe a 7-8 seed, but I would say the new recruits (Phyfe/new 3 guard) need to be ready to contribute out of the gate...

Same story, second verse for Panther100/Pantherlope2019.

Makes up a bogus argument, gets proven wrong time and time again. Changes the story to seem like less of a clown. Repeat, repeat, repeat.

Against my better judgment, I will enter the conversation with 'lope.

So if we will never get the inner city, JC, prep school, suburb, or small town kids to win . . . who is left? I suppose medium-sized cities, farms, Pacific islands. Or are you just saying that we simply can't recruit good players?

Seems to me that good players come from all over and coaches should be looking in all sectors for good players they can recruit.

You forgot about Michelle Obama doing the Interlude, but otherwise you're spot on.

We get the suburb and small city kids that won't make the
Elite Eight of DI BB....We don't have the recruiting money for the Pacfic Rim.

Part of this has to do with the style of offense he runs and his rebounding philosophy, but the point remains, bigs just don't develop well, offensively, under Jakes regime, imo. Outside of making them a more inside/outside threat, the back to the basket style moves just don't seem to improve as much as you'd expect over 4/5 years.
Most of the guys on that list were all-Valley and won league titles. And you have a couple Larry Bird Trophy guys on there.

                              What are your standards?

Yes. Seems like we used to do more of this, but now we would rather back it out into our offense than trying for a quick hitter. During a phase when our offense is not regularly lighting it up, some well designed BLOB plays might help give a spark.
