I said this in the other thread....start the Dana Altman chant in Iowa City. Two birds/one stone.

You're probably closer to the truth than you can imagine News. I think they like Dana in Iowa City.

I'm still sticking with Stallings to IU.
The Lord reigns, let the earth be glad; let the distant shores rejoice, clouds and thick darkness surround Him; righteousness and justice are the foundation of His throne. Fire goes before Him, and consumes his foes on every side; His lightning lights up the world; the earth sees and trembles; the mountains melt like wax before the Lord of all the earth. The heavens proclaim His righteousness and all peoples will see His glory.

Whatever would the Hawkeye fans do if Stevie left? Would they actually have to admit that a loss was simply because the other team was better? Ok, so its Iowa not Utopia U and such a thing will likely never occur. Other then cracking jokes I know little about Indiana and agree that the coaching carosel is better left for later. I will say that it should be one of the crazier off seasons ever, with three visibal programs (Cinci, Mizzou, IU) on the market, and likely a number to join them, especially if those programs pull from other major programs. Plus, OSU will have a different Sutton on the bench (that situation is really just too bad, I really thought Eddie had beat the deamons after leaving Kentucky).

Careful with the pot and kettle game...that knife will cut both ways my friend.

If Iowa fans would have to admit that IU was 'better' if Alford left for there, would we have to admit the same about Iowa if Mac left for Iowa City?

If you believe the answer to the first is "yes" then you have to apply the same answer to the second.

I'm not saying I think the answer is "yes" to both, just keeping you honest.

Iowa doesn't not get recruits and coaches don't go anywhere better. They just didn't want them. In the case of Alford though it might actually be true for once. Although some winning is turning that around.

IU is home for Steve so you'd think he would consider it a better job than Iowa even if it isn't.

Mac going elsewhere would be about the money.

Just FYI I was referring to the Hawk fan policy (or at least the Hawk fan company I keep) of blaming every loss on "stupid Alford" and never conceiving that it could be that their opponent was simply superior. In other words, I was being my usual jerikish self

You talk to anyone from Cascade Ames, and you hear that Mac's family are all Hawkeye fans. I have heard what a huge Hawkeye fan he was growing up from no less then a dozen people from that area.

If he were to leave for Iowa City, it would be party money, it would be partly profile, and it would be partly something completely different. If that fact makes people feel bad about our Panthers, that's those individual's problem and nobody else's...it wouldn't be a 'slight' to us by any means.

I don't believe that Alford is IU's first choice, nor that he'd take the job if offered. Alford is a Bobby Knight guy first, an IU guy second, and that loyalty to Knight might well be the most important factor, and the reason he wouldn't go back.

Before their game in Bloomington last weekend, Alford said that visiting there wasn't the "same" becasue the General wasn't there anymore. A very telling comment, IMHO.

Yeah well I was a huge Hawkeye fan growing up right in the heart of Cyclone country. But look at me now
