Only a government run operation can make $1 hotdogs and walking down stairs with a cup difficult.

Does UNI have the board of regents go with them on recruiting visits also? That would explain a lot.

More than likely, their concessions are run by a third party so they can't just lower the price of hot dogs. They would likely have to cover the difference.

Beer is a very hot button issue on college campuses. Allowing it to be sold in any part of the arena would be a major policy change that can't be done simply because the team isn't playing well.

Also, if this change is made, is it permanent? Or is it just until the team starts playing better again? Are we covering $1 hot dogs on weekdays for the rest of time? If not, it seems a bit like a desperation move and one that probably doesn't help us in the long run. If so, I hope we have a big donor that is willing to cut the food vendor a check every year.

And ultimately, are a significant number of people coming to the games because of this change? How many people who wouldn't have otherwise gone to the game tonight made the decision to come because they can get cheap hot dogs and bring a beer to their seat?

Sometimes short term band-aid solutions that seem obvious to fans aren't the best decisions for the program over the long haul when considered strategically.

This is exactly correct. Continually devaluing your product has incredibly negative consequences down the road.

This is something that I think David is very aware of and sensitive to.
"...the Northern Iowa men's basketball team reached the ultimate highs before hitting a devastating low. Unexpected success, followed by unimaginable failure. And they owned it -- all of it -- for the world to see. Like men. Like leaders. Like champions -- in a way no tournament bracket could ever define."

Maybe Mr. Harris should tell a couple of people that.

I mean you could easily do a dollar dogs night without setting some standard or expectation of that every week. Happens all the time.

As far as getting students in the building and garnering excitement, I will always stand by the fact that it would be way better for attendance to sell student ticket packages and not have it hidden in their tuition.

Probably less profitable, but if they can buy season tickets for a reasonable price at the click of a button while signing up for residency, alot of freshman are going to opt in and then will have physical tickets staring them in the face pinned to their desk all year long. Every game you miss you remember because you see your wasted ticket.

We'd have a lot more freshmen at games and maybe even build up some culture like there used to be. But for now, it's pathetic, and I hate the excuse that we just need a better team to solve these issues, weve had better teams pretty recently, hardly mattered except for games against Wichita and drake.

We don't need to give away anything or reduce the price. The point of the subject title is that there simply isn't any type of social media posts. The point of marketing is to create demand for your product. Building excitement of an event is important. Doing that through social media outlets is not difficult or expensive.

Honest question, how the hell does a place like Grand Canyon University do it? For who they are, their fan base is unreal.

It's a long story but it boils down to being a Jesus focused diploma mill.

I don’t think it that easy when the team is as bad as this one is so far.

                        Even the casual fan knows the following ;
                        they were humiliated by Iowa.
They almost lost to a DIII team.
                        There record is no good.

You can tweet and facebook book like a Russian an you are not glossing that away.

they need to sweeten the deal IMO.

Selling beer in the stands does not devalue the product on the court. Losing and handing out free tickets devalues it.

Also, don’t we run our own concessions or has that changed, again?

We are in a situation where we must start thinking differently. If selling a $0.25 hot dogs for $1 during weeknight games gets people to buy $10/15 tickets, or selling $0.75 beers for $5 in the stands gets people to buy $10/15 tickets DO IT and do it yesterday. Make the decision and make it happen. I don’t believe the blow back will be as bad as people think.

And whatever else works to get people to buy tickets.
                            "Well, that escalated quickly."

Grand Canyon U's main accreditation is from the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association . . . the same as UNI's.
