A lot of it has to do with the way they fund their athletics department, their approach to the game day management (they don't have big donors or sponsors and look at it as a student recruitment tool that is run by student life), and the high school-like culture created by the kinds of kids who go there (which I am not knocking....it is just different than most schools).

The bleacher seats are $10. Get there early and you can sit as close as you desire. You are not going to do better than that.Originally posted by SpanishMoon View PostMy cousin is coming up for NY Eve and I want to take him and his family to some games in Jan but I am kind of waiting to see if there is a deal on tickets or some packages. Money is tight this time of year.

Another poor week of getting the word out about the game tomorrow night vs Stony Brook. Very few posts and no information on any ticket specials or even advertise the Pathet Patio. There has been nothing this year about the Patio. A lot of people enjoy the patio why not get the word out. There was even a post the beginning of this week that was promoting the Gand Cayon game. Wow it just keeps getting worse. Very disappointed.

No need to sugar coat any of this anymore. They are doing an absolutely terrible job at all of this. Tickets, promotions, game ops, and sports information.
Things are getting precipitously worse and people need to be held accountable. Its been legeitimately embarassing some of this stuff...UNI FIGHT

Do people ever write letters to the athletic department with suggestions and get responses? This seems like something that we should be expressing our written dissapointment over.
If there is one thing I miss about Troy Dannen is his Troy's Takes question box where he took the time to answer fan questions and comments on social media. I would 100% call out social media if that was still an available option

Reading through this makes me very upset and sad. Many things wrong with this. 1- If UNI athletic staff are wearing other schools apparel this needs to be addressed very quick. I dont care if its just out to the grocery store or mall...you don't do that. Represent your damn school! 2- Yes it is the SID and marketing departments job to get the word out about games. When I was a Intern in the sports marketing department at UNI myself and all the other interns worked our butts off to get the word out about games, we would put signs out all around campus for students and also sent out many emails and posted on social media every chance we got. We also gave away $, free food and had promotions fans would come to try to be a part of. The team was not that great but we still got fans in the seats and we were not even paid as interns and still cared enough to do this! Get some good promotions going for schools and clubs also. They are always looking for something to do to have fun. Heck even youth sports teams would love to come as a team for team bonding. MANY options. IT IS NOT THAT HARD!
Also I followed the SID search very closely and I can tell you UNI missed on a very good candidate that is now an SID at another University. He does everything with a passion and works 24/7 to make sure it all gets done well and the right way

David knows how we, as fans feel. He's gotten more than a couple e-mails. He's been tagged in the social media items. He's held a meeting with another "fan advisory" committee. Literally nothing we feel they don't know. What has come of all of those things? A vague statement from David about how "they are working on making it better" with no specifics about what is being done, what they view needs to be done, and an actual plan for doing anything.Originally posted by MNpanthers View PostDo people ever write letters to the athletic department with suggestions and get responses? We've been told on PN, by those connected, as well as I've gotten messages on social media from various connected people from different areas of connections, saying they are aware of issues and things are being worked on to improve and....well....It's time to call a spade a spade
It's all bull**** lies.
Until something actually happens it's bull****, it's lies, and it's Troy Dannen redeux. I refuse to believe anything from David's mouth at this point. I have no reason too. We've seen no action taken from what he said he would do, even on the simplest of fronts.
How long, how much effort, how much restructuring is needed to actually have your employees put out social media content? Making a gif takes all of 2 minutes - if you include walking to someone to film it, filming it, and uploading it, maybe 8 minutes. Hell, I can take a 4k video, on my phone, and turn it into a gif in the same free app and have it posted to social media within 2 minutes of recording the video.
Putting graphics together doesn't take more than a few minutes. Proof reading graphics takes about a minute.
Updating the website takes a little time, but it's literally the job of that person.
Putting game notes out takes time, but again it's your job to do it and do it timely AND NOT FULL OF DOZENS OF ERRORS
I can't believe the level of incompetence our athletic department has shown when it comes to marketing and PR the last couple years. I'm not even talking about big marketing promotions and signs and commercials. I'm talking the simple **** that any middle school kid with GIMP or a pirated copy of Photoshop can teach themselves to do in a day or day and a half.
We're talking not even getting a ****ing media guide for the schools largest sport this year. I don't give a **** what kind of turnover you want to blame, thats 10000000000000000000000000000000000% unacceptable and for anyone in the athletic department to use turnover as an excuse, well, that's a fireable offense IMO. It shows you aren't willing to put work in for your job - or extra work in for your job.
Unbelievable what our AD has become.
I thought the Dannen years were bad. The Harris years are getting close to the same level, but for different reasons ending in the same result.

From the game notes for the SIU game - which is still advertised as being a road game
Head Coach Ben Jacobson is 18-9 against the Salukis and holds a 9-1 record at home.
Um...it's Jakes 13th seasons. Which means he's gone through 12 full seasons as HC. Which means 12 home games against every MVC school (sans Valpo, Creighton and Wichita)
Meaning it's not possible that he's 9-1 against any MVC school in Cedar Falls
