A vague statement from David about how "they are working on making it better" with no specifics about what is being done, what they view needs to be done, and an actual plan for doing anything.

We've been told on PN, by those connected, as well as I've gotten messages on social media from various connected people from different areas of connections, saying they are aware of issues and things are being worked on to improve and....well....It's time to call a spade a spade

    It's all bull**** lies.

Until something actually happens it's bull****, it's lies, and it's Troy Dannen redeux. I refuse to believe anything from David's mouth at this point. I have no reason too. We've seen no action taken from what he said he would do, even on the simplest of fronts.

How long, how much effort, how much restructuring is needed to actually have your employees put out social media content? Making a gif takes all of 2 minutes - if you include walking to someone to film it, filming it, and uploading it, maybe 8 minutes. Hell, I can take a 4k video, on my phone, and turn it into a gif in the same free app and have it posted to social media within 2 minutes of recording the video.

Putting graphics together doesn't take more than a few minutes. Proof reading graphics takes about a minute.
Updating the website takes a little time, but it's literally the job of that person.
Putting game notes out takes time, but again it's your job to do it and do it timely AND NOT FULL OF DOZENS OF ERRORS

I can't believe the level of incompetence our athletic department has shown when it comes to marketing and PR the last couple years. I'm not even talking about big marketing promotions and signs and commercials. I'm talking the simple **** that any middle school kid with GIMP or a pirated copy of Photoshop can teach themselves to do in a day or day and a half.

We're talking not even getting a ****ing media guide for the schools largest sport this year. I don't give a **** what kind of turnover you want to blame, thats 10000000000000000000000000000000000% unacceptable and for anyone in the athletic department to use turnover as an excuse, well, that's a fireable offense IMO. It shows you aren't willing to put work in for your job - or extra work in for your job.

Unbelievable what our AD has become.

I thought the Dannen years were bad. The Harris years are getting close to the same level, but for different reasons ending in the same result.

      Nah. Write as well.

I know I'm not alone, but I'm all for an all out bombardment on the athletic department to make them realize it's not just a couple random rubes on social media. I want as many people writing as possible.

Be specific about what you're mentioning. Point to specifics about issues in game names, graphics, lack of awareness, members of the AD promoting schools other than UNI on their social media. Make them aware.

Make David understand that just because we don't have the size of fan base of Iowa State doesn't mean we don't deserve a well run athletic department.

it's ridiculous how poorly we market our two revenue sports...these are paid positions and i feel like interns or work study kids would do a better job at this point

If computers ruled college basketball the way they do football, we'd have skipped all this March Madness monotony and just waited a month for the Kansas-Kentucky title game. And watched Northern Iowa play Cornell in the Poulan Weedeater Bowl. ~ Dwight Perry The Seattle Times

Lets keep adding to the fire.
They put out a survey on the football fan experience - great idea (if it was last month). However, it doesn’t work. If you try to rank everything when they ask you to rank them, you can’t.

On a positive note, I see the Jan 16th game is $1 hotdog night! I’ve heard that idea somewhere before...

Fellas......the questions are intended to be ranked.

                1...2...3...4...5...6...7...8

                Not hard to figure out.

Not everything is someone else's fault...or the UNI Athletic Dept's fault.

Winning is more fun than losing.

This is correct. Unfortunately many people interpreted that question the wrong way (including myself at first). I think they just need to re-word it a bit. I saw many people on Twitter last night that tweeted the athletic department that there was an error and then I figured out we were all doing it wrong.
"...the Northern Iowa men's basketball team reached the ultimate highs before hitting a devastating low. Unexpected success, followed by unimaginable failure. And they owned it -- all of it -- for the world to see. Like men. Like leaders. Like champions -- in a way no tournament bracket could ever define."

I shared what I put on the survey with a few panther, and non panther, fans.

What I wrote was 1,719 words and 3 full pages single spaced in a word document.

I took the gloves off. It's time the department heads the truth without the sugar coating everyone, naturally, wants to give your own school.

The response I received from panther fans that I shared it with was agreement and thankfulness (for lack of a better term at the moment) for the willingness to share what I did.

Non panther fans I shared it with applieded it roundly. The close friends I have at other schools have seen UNI become a joke on and off the field. They filled surveys it as well to echo the thoughts I shared because they are genuinely pissed off for uni fans for going through what we do from our own university. Take a second to think about that - NDSU and SDSU fans I know (and I'm talking former players and/or people who spend 15 to 20k a treat in donations and tickets at ndsu) are taking the time to fill the survey out because they see what is happening and are pissed for us. Not only conference mates, people I'm close with at schools like Stephen F Austin, Jacksonville State and Montana echo the same when I talk with them.

Do the survey. Don't hold back.

                    Be specific. Make comments actionable.

If you want to vent about an issue, do it. However, offer suggestions or ideas along with it. Generic statements don't help.

The question is worded/structured stupidly. Also damn hard to hit them little circles without hitting and adjacent one when on a mobile device.

Suppose we shouldn't be surprised there's problems even with the survey about fixing problems.

I'm really not sure what all you do to fix this and I know it's unique when you have young kids like I do right now. But when I go to a game it feels like a huge chore. Atmosphere is boring, lugging kids from parking lot to game sucks, dome seats are awful for about anyone but especially anyone with back problems.

Watching from my living room with my family and good food and drink is so much more comfortable and less expensive (time and money).

I get where you're coming from. We have a 10 year old, an eight year old and a five month old. The 10 and 8 year olds are easy but starting all over again with a baby made even myself miss some games this year. I totally, completely get it. For me - I continue to show up to support our student athletes. I feel a sense of loyalty and pride that is ingrained in me, and I want to ingrain it in my kids, too. But I was raised around this so I get that not everyone feels that same sense of loyalty and duty to keep showing up.

And though we have a long ways to go, the athletic department did implement some things the last two seasons that have helped. For example: they now have a mother's room located in the Dome, on the McLeod Center concourse and in the West Gym. I've taken advantage of it, and it allowed me to attend some games that I wouldn't have been able to otherwise. But this came as a direct result of people suggesting it and letting them know it was needed. I think it would help (and I said so in my survey responses) to have some special family pack concession options... or kid pack food options... kind of like they do at the movie theater. Feeding just my older two at the games is getting increasingly expensive, and I can try and tell them that we won't be getting food while at games but that's really hard to do at football games. They are long, kids get hungry... and when you're not allowed to leave at half time to go get some tailgate food, it's pretty hard to refuse to feed your kids from the concession counters.

But to be a draw for the casual fan, the entertainment experience has got to improve. In the world of smart phones and comfy couches and every game on TV... we have to give people a reason to come and we have to make them feel like they're missing out if they're not there. A lot of people do things these days because they want to be able to post a picture that matches the pictures everyone else is posting. They want to feel like they are included in something important, like they are part of something, and that is the environment and atmosphere we have to bring back to tailgating and other game day experiences.
