  • Thanks never thought about that. But you still think the uni bb or athletic office would promote on their end. I see social media for other MVC teams promoting their coaches show every week. How do you not promote the Uni product and coach. Not good for recruiting.

    • I agree 100% .

But I feel the need to be fair as to where blame belongs given my posts on here .

      • Ben is required in his contract to do tv and radio shows and gets paid by the university to do them. I would think UNI has an interest promoting that.

Jake's call-in show is promoted on the big screen at every game. A high percentage of people who would be interested in attending in person at the Other Place on University or listening on radio, would be in attendance at the games, so it is "promoting the UNI product and coach." I do understand your point about potential recruits not seeing it on social media however.

At the game they are also promoting to mostly people that already know about it.
"I think they're very good," Farley said of the preseason top 25 Hawkeyes. "But so are we."

I can see how UNI would want to keep it a secret. No point in advertising beyond the 3,800 people in McLeod to know about it.
              "Well, that escalated quickly."

              • Coaches shows are probably not their top priority, especially when the team is 6-10.

                • It shouldnt matter what their record is you don’t stop promoting your program. You stay consistent and get as much exposure for the team as possible.

                  • I've seen a really good amount of promotion for this game. I'll be curious to see how that affects the attendance turnout, obviously it helps we are playing Drake and it's a double header with the women's team.

The effort put in for this game should be the minimum for every game

I agree, and sometimes that means that you don't post things that won't get high engagement. UNI would be unwise to waste traditional advertising dollars on promoting the coaches show over their games, and would also be unwise to plaster social media with coaches show advertising since it would not get high engagement. If fewer people engage, it is less likely to pop up on their feed in the future. You have to be strategic with your posts.

Besides, if we are struggling to get folks to come to our games, why would we spend our time and resources trying to promote something that isn't even a game?
