  • FWIW, in his postgame, Jake said they're looking to add 2 games - next Thursday and Monday.
To avoid confusion - my username is baseball (Cy Young award) related, NOT for the Cyclones.

    • What does everyone think is better - work through our issues with a couple non-con games (for which few gimmes exist based on recent play) or take two weeks off and hit the reset button?

Play. These guys need more game experience. Wins and losses obviously mean nothing right now so get more experience if you can.

        • Iowa has an open weekend. I propose Cedar Falls, Iowa City. Have to be sure Iowa comes to UNI first because we know who would cancel out on us.

We already hit the reset button once..... We need a few cupcakes or a team to give us money.

Agreed. We need games and preferably somebody who can help boost our confidence.

              • Yeah, go get Upper Iowa and the University of Dubuque. Always nice to see alumni. Travel would be easy, too. Two road games vs. power 6 teams makes us money, but raises even more questions after the losses.

                • Looks like Cornell on Thursday.

                  • I was checking out Valley schedules on the ESPN app this morning and they have us playing Cornell on Thursday and Coe next Monday. I was surprised not to have seen that reported here first.

                    • I would also say that I’m still hopeful we could avoid Thursday, given that we have not yet played a team currently in the bottom half of the Valley. The schedule gets much easier in February.

                      • A couple of in-state teams that we should handle and shore up weak areas is ideal given our circumstances. Good for Cornell and Coe for travel, as well. We can't afford to pay them, but maybe we threw them three bones each.

                        • And just like that the Cornell game is cancelled...
If computers ruled college basketball the way they do football, we'd have skipped all this March Madness monotony and just waited a month for the Kansas-Kentucky title game. And watched Northern Iowa play Cornell in the Poulan Weedeater Bowl. ~ Dwight Perry The Seattle Times

                          • Wow! If you are not on here daily, you could make a big drive for nothing.

                            • "Unfortunately circumstances have changed, and we decided to cancel Thursday's game. Within the past 36 hours, we have had a couple of issues pop up that had an impact on the number of players we have available. We will monitor things over the next few days with the expectation of taking the court on Monday."

Anybody have any insight into this? COVID related or something else?

                              • As bad as the team has played, I’m surprised I’m having such withdrawal. Still no insight on exactly why Thursday game was canceled? Not even a mention on team website.
