If we make the tournament, and win a game or two, do we start next year ranked with what we have coming back?

NBCSports has us in the first round against Iowa in Omaha (they would never do that!) and WSU as a First Four in Dayton.

It's probably time to accept that a ranking isn't going to happen unless UNI gets to St. Louis without another loss. Rattle off another 6 straight and maybe hit #25 in the polls.Originally posted by BCPanther View PostUnless there's a bunch of chaos this week, we aren't getting in next week either. Still 116 points behind 25th and Rhode Island picked up more votes than we did this week to put them 27th. godIzzogod and Michigan State are 26th so we know they're getting back in next week.
The B1G being garbage this year is going to have teams constantly moving up and down past UNI because of the myth that they are a good league this year. The national media seems to think the B1G is so deep, but they all inflated their W-L numbers playing a bunch of nobodies in the non-con. The media hypes this up as parity in the B1G, but if it was the Valley or other non-power leagues the media narrative would be that it is a bad conference deserving fewer bids. That has been spun this year to say the B1G might deserve 10 or 12 teams. There is one team in the B1G with a winning record away from home. If Purdue beats PSU tomorrow night, they likely move past UNI in the rankings next week. If Michigan St. or Rutgers beat Illinois this week, they move past UNI.
The other interesting thing from today is Katz' power 36 and his blurb that no one wants to face UNI "if they get the bid". This is another national media guy working PR for the money leagues and planting the seed that no one outside of a money league should receive an at-large. It's a beautiful system they have created for themselves.

Unless we can really lay a pounding on Loyola, I agree that we probably don't get ranked next week. I do think if we win the next 4 we sneak in though... that'd be 2 road wins against top 100 teams. To avoid confusion - my username is baseball (Cy Young award) related, NOT for the Cyclones.

How many of these voters do you think are really looking at the metrics? Most of them just look trendy names from P5.Originally posted by CyCarp View PostUnless we can really lay a pounding on Loyola, I agree that we probably don't get ranked next week. As much as I'd like to play teams like Iowa and Kansas, I'd much rather play P5 teams that are unfamiliar with us. I really think that's why Jake is so good at getting his teams ready to play against non-MVC teams in the non-con and during NCAA tournament teams. At least this makes sense to me why we've had non-cons that look superb and then have been lackluster in MVC play.

So, one vote from within the footprint of the MVC.

That is interesting. Apparently we have not impressed anyone in Illinois, Missouri, or Indiana. Also who else, other than Leistikow, has a vote from Iowa?Originally posted by FOTY View Post
