Time to fire this thread back up again..all in all an up and down year but about like what I expected personally. Saw some flashes for the future, but still a young team. As always it will be interesting to see if anyone moves on. Off the top of my head the one who would make the most sense is Courbat.

Courbat wanted to be a Panther out of the womb, his grandfather is in the UNI Hall of Fame and scored 1000 points here.Originally posted by Mill1634 View PostTime to fire this thread back up again..all in all an up and down year but about like what I expected personally. I'll be very surprised if we don't have our entire roster back next year.

Already hearing ISU fans trying to manifest a Born transfer. Have also heard from them that Heise is gone too. Funny how we’re “just” UNI but they want our players now.Originally posted by BCPanther View Post

Same group that's still pissed about AJ and also mad that Theo didn't transfer there.Originally posted by edgecat View Post

That fan base has become everything they claim to hate about Hawk fans.

The funny thing is that ISU has crushed recruiting. They are getting some absolute monsters, but they still can't recruit shooters. They would love Born. I like Gabe Kalsheur but he is so streaky. And you still can't really trust him at the line. They are a mess offensively. And it's mainly because they just don't have the guys that can shoot.

They really had no real shot at AJ.Originally posted by BCPanther View Post

He passed in ISU 3 times. Out of HS, when his Dad took that job, and before he went to NBA.
It wasn't happening.Winning is more fun than losing.

Assuming everyone comes back, the minutes distribution next year will be very interesting. It will be nice not to have to rely on 4 guys playing 30+ minutes every night, which should lead to fresh legs in February.
There are 13 guys who could reasonably see minutes next year. I don’t think that’s realistic, but then that means you have to start crossing guys off the list and that’s tough to do. There are also lots of questions to answer before you start handing out minutes:
How much is Phyfe going to play?
What about the true freshman? It seems like Rubin and Taylor would play at the very least. Is there any possible way Pock would redshirt? It seems like he would be buried in the depth chart behind Heise, Duax, Wolf, etc.

The ISU fan base is one of, if not the most, insecure fan base in the whole damn country.

On the surface I’d agree. Since there’s a sense of future optimism amongst the fanbase, you’d assume it’s that much higher amongst the players and coaches. That said, some teams are bound to come after our younger guys who showed promise, especially Duax.Originally posted by BCPanther View Post

I know we've gone over expansion in the past. What about going to 16? Let's speculate adds like Southern Indiana, Omaha, Northern Kentucky, and UMKC? Four rounds in the conference tourney without a bye.Last edited by BrockLesnar; 03-04-2023, 11:18 AM.

Right.. Which is why for lack a better word "wasting" a scholarship on him is frustrating as a fan. Fringe D1/MVC player who almost certainly would have walked on.Originally posted by BCPanther View Post

Regarding next year. (Assuming Phyfe isnt playing), post is a big hole. I'm sorry but we can't claim to being trying to compete and start Betz again. Whether that is Rubin? I am not sure. I still have some hope that Henry develops into the player I thought he could be but hasn't happened yet.
Also will be interesting to see how the minutes go with Heise back. Duax obviously still needs his.
Trey I still have high hopes for but at the same time, if we are trying to compete, seems like a good candidate for a role reduction unless there is a big improvement. (which is certainly possible)
And obviously excited to see how a very highly touted class fits in. Taylor seems like Born 2.0
"Should" be a very deep team

The good news for us with Born is how short he is.. Otherwise he wouldnt be here.Originally posted by PantherAlum09 View PostThe funny thing is that ISU has crushed recruiting. Duax's dad played football here and he's wanted to play at UNI for literally his entire life.Originally posted by SteinPizza View Post
