  • So it looks like the answer is stop complaining, give more money, and cross your fingers.

    • The answer is to get competent leadership at the top of our athletic program, someone who has a bit of used car salesman in them, that can get donors to our athletic programs.

I do also think it is fair to say that our head coaches who are all experienced and have had success at UNI need to evaluate what is working and not working in their programs, and not be afraid to make some changes. Yes I am fully aware that our coaches constantly evaluate their programs but it is the changes part that was the bigger part of this.

        This is the way.
"...the Northern Iowa men's basketball team reached the ultimate highs before hitting a devastating low. Unexpected success, followed by unimaginable failure. And they owned it -- all of it -- for the world to see. Like men. Like leaders. Like champions -- in a way no tournament bracket could ever define."

Ankle is great. Started individual workouts last week. Hoping to get him into some 3 on 3 by the time the season is over. Should be a full go for the summer.

Thanks. Hopefully he helps us get better. His brother has had a solid freshman year

Hopefully he's willing to stick around for next season after this underachievement

                • I was just looking at the Iowa Barnstormers website and thought this picture of Noah Carter was funny. Bowen and everyone else are having fun laughing but then you have Noah sitting and looking like someone took his toy.

                    • Sounds like Hermer is no longer on staff.

                        • He literally got a promotion just over a month ago, it'd be pretty shocking if he was suddenly not on staff

                          • We'll obviously have a lot of new faces this season, and a few returning starters we already know what to expect from. But the player I think will have the most impact on how good this team can be is RJ. A lot will be asked of him. We lack depth at the 1 spot, so he's gonna have to play a lot of minutes and have the ball in his hands a ton. He'll have to impact the offense more this year than he did last year. I like the addition of more athleticism around him with guys like Wes and Leon. Maybe even Max.
If RJ can get our offense running like it should, we've got a lot of fire power to explode. But if he struggles to command this team, we may be a piece short.
My guess is Max will also have ball handling duties, and some for Trey, but niether is a true PG. Is Cael really capable of D1 guard play? Lot of questions after RJ, imo.

                            • I think Ty is going to have the ball in his hands a decent amount, especially to start off the year, being more or less the only player on the team who's been here for two or more years

                              • Cael Schmidt is better than people think. I was hesitant too but he's certainly got a role.
