I think you could connect the two with a glass walk-walk similar to the one between the Dome and McLeod. I can make a case for a number of benefits from doing that as opposed to leaving the space open.Originally posted by 06panther10 View Post
Given the location of where its being built, where would it make sense for there to be a walkway? Thru the front ticket office? They still would have to walk all the way thru McLeod and all the way up the arena steps. That would be silly. Underground? Impossible because there is no ground level exit on the South side of Mcleod.
Lots of schools practice facilities are not near their arenas and some are even off campus. This will be fine.
The cost of an additional walk-way or tunnel around the side of the building or underground would be astronomical compared to what we have now, or even just a smaller glass enclosed area between the ticket area and facility entrance.

MBB in UNI-Dome / Overall, per www.sports-reference.com (since UNI went D-I):Originally posted by nadf. View PostThat dome had to have been an absolute menace for opposing teams to come and try to get a W in. Idk how you could ever get comfortable shooting the basketball in a place like that when you aren't used to playing there. It would be really interesting to go back and look at opposing shooting percentages at the dome in comparison to their other road games. Same for UNI honestly, I'm curious what the percentages looked like for home vs away.

I'm confused, will this be connected to the McLeod? The picture in this article today makes it look like it is...
The University of Northern Iowa has gotten approval from the Board of Regents to begin construction of a new sports practice facility. UNI vice president Mike Hager says the new building would be a companion facility to the McCloud center where the volleyball, men’s and women’s basketball and wrestling teams compete.”In addition, it is this […]To avoid confusion - my username is baseball (Cy Young award) related, NOT for the Cyclones.

Nice, I didn't see this before. It's much closer to the McLeod than I thought it'd be.Originally posted by nadf. View PostTo avoid confusion - my username is baseball (Cy Young award) related, NOT for the Cyclones.
