If Kyle Green reached out himself I think we should absolutely capitalize on it, the only downside would be if that would drive Seth away. But as someone else mentioned, having Seth as a succession plan to KG would be the ideal scenario if it worked out that way. It lets Seth gain more experience as well for when his time would eventually come.

I agree.... if KG comes aboard, then it would be great if Tut stays. He was at least 3 down on the Asst Coach list (under PJ and G), so this could be a move up and give him more responsibilities and experience, maybe even an Assoc HC title in a year or two? Plus, they are obviously very familiar with each other, so it wouldn't be like an outside entity taking over. They are both known as great recruiters and KG has added a few years in a P5 environment working with Otz...and he knows UNI really well (including the limitations). There is a lot of upside here.
There could also be some other strong P5 assistants or DII coaches available that AD Megan knows about that we don't...I'd be curious to see if any names get leaked out.Last edited by BobCat; 03-31-2026, 03:05 PM.

I'm in the camp that the best outcome is Kyle Green as HC and move Seth Tuttle up to an association head coach or some title like that. Brings in a proven defensive coach, tuttle can still coach the O has some continuity for players we're trying to retain... either way i'll renew my season tickets and be in the building next fall.
Change isn't always bad so best of luck to coach Jake, and looking forward to the next chapter of UNI hoops...lets just not hire the next Sam Weaver... those were dark days between Eldon Miller and Mac

I think one thing that's been under the radar is the lack of action towards a practice facility. That was in Jake's contract. There had to be significant movement toward one by August. Also saw his USU deal. His base is over $1M. That's definitely enough to turn one's head.
As for a new coach, Tut or Kyle are OK by me. Remember, Jake was Mac's assistant when he was hired. I certainly hope either one insists on that new facility."And immediately, (P'Allen Stinnett's) Facebook status was spouting vulgarities towards the university."

Fairly confident with a couple updates here --
--The package deal is very unlikely. It's one or the other unless something drastically changes in the next few hours.
--There are only two candidates. No surprises out there
--Not expecting a decision tonight
--Most likely at some point tomorrow

Whoever gets into that position needs to work towards that practice facility. Where the heck is that in the process? I know we've been mentioning it, but someone needs to get the job done for us to continue to stay competitive. It's like shooting a ball with one hand behind our backs.

So the report I've seen about Ben Johnson being in the running are wrong and/or inaccurate?Originally posted by BCPanther View PostFairly confident with a couple updates here --

Nothing against Ben personally, but good God...

Im ok with either hire.
Tuttle has the excitement factor (and more risk)
Green is more proven,
Will suck to lose Tuttle and see him take off however. I think that is what is making me hesitant. Ignoring that I think the clear choice is Green but Tuttle will be fun.
Let's pick one and get going!

I don't believe there were ever any other serious candidates and, had Kyle not reached out, I don't think there even would have been two.Originally posted by UNIChippewa View Post

Seth would feel slighted and he would be gone. My reservation about Seth isn’t his relative youth or lack of experience, but it seems to me (and I could be totally off base here), that when he came back from Europe and tried to install his up-tempo “flow” offense, the program lost its identity as the slow, defense-first program that was key to our prior success. I don’t want him to pull that again just when we are getting back to that winning formula.Originally posted by GarretW1797 View PostIf Kyle Green reached out himself I think we should absolutely capitalize on it, the only downside would be if that would drive Seth away.
