Please explain the positives to me. Because I don't really see any true material positives for UNI here.Originally posted by ofpantherandman View Post
What did you expect? A coach leaves and takes his players with him. It happens everywhere, to everyone and it finally happened to us. Now Franklin gets to mold the program in her image instead of having this big immovable statue for a coach. There's plenty of negatives in losing Jake, but don't lose sight of potential positives.

I like KG with Tuttle in the line of succession. Need to get another good recruiter on staff. Wouldn't mind seeing one of our NBA experienced guys come back.
Surprised Jake is taking as many as he is, figured he would need to find a west coast recruiter because we have not really targeted there before unless he believes G can handle that. I wish him well, but that's his problem now.
Would like to see most of our guys stay, but that's up to them. Leon, Ben, Geon I think have upside to play a step up. Not sure about Will. I like him a lot but think his skill set is best in the Valley. Would be interesting to see how he handles playing at altitude, conditioning wasn't his strongest suit. Plus, I would expect him to face a lot of taller players in that new conference configuration and he has seemed to struggle against height/length. (1 point, 2 rebounds, 4 fouls against St. Mary's size)

He played a whole season at UNI with his dad at ISU.Originally posted by Mudrafan View Post
Fully aware. But he entered the transfer portal until he was taken in the draft. He wasn't going back to UNI. He was either going to ISU or possibly somewhere else, but highly likely to ISU. But the draft took precedence.

He played at UNI for 4 years, graduated, and never put on another school's jersey. His number currently hangs in our rafters.Originally posted by Mudrafan View Post

I don't know what else needs to be said than that.UNI FIGHT

I mean the downside heavily outweighs the upside.Originally posted by MVCBeat View Post

But...
It's not like the last 10 years have been exactly what we wanted either. Sometimes after 20 years a change can be good.
Who knows what will happen. I certainly do not

Again, he left UNI & entered the transfer portal. If he wasn't drafted to his liking, he was going to play elsewhere. Highly likely ISU. I'm not sure how much more plain I can be.Originally posted by 06panther10 View Post

I think Kyle would be interested in the head gig here. Wife still works in town and I'm pretty sure he rents in Ames rather than owning a place. Plus he'd be a little closer to AJ in Milwaukee. Nothing crazy obviously. There's probably a little bit of him that would like to prove he can do it, too. If he made $350,000 at ISU and we could up that just a little to have him have the head gig, I don't think that would be a bad move.Originally posted by DownGoesKansas View Post
Can we afford both?

He wasn't drafted, he worked his but off on a two-way contract. AJ Green is the best Panther in modern history - having someone like his dad associated with the program again could only be seen as a positive.Originally posted by Mudrafan View Post

It changes everything as to what you said. You said Kyle Green "left UNI twice & took his son away after the last time". No he didn't. He didn't leave UNI. He stayed, played his final season with his dad at ISU, graduated, and went (undrafted) to the NBA. There is no way to interpret that as "Kyle Green left UNI and took his son away" that I can possibly fathom.Originally posted by Mudrafan View Post
Yep. Doesn't change anything as to what was said.

Agreed. I literally said he is a very intriguing choice. Between him & Tuttle, that's a no brainer to me. Green has been all over the place. With success, he'd leave in a minute. But that's a win-win, as stated. I simply pointed out the fact that he's left twice & was set to take his son (our star player) after he entered the portal. But the NBA came calling.Originally posted by UNIpanther99 View Post
