I haven't heard the AD say...we're launching an immediate nationwide search to fill the head coaching position.

Which makes me think they've been busy working through other details as quickly as possible.

We'll see.

She indicated a search was underway, but with Jake's buyout being $0, I just don't really see us expanding our search much. I really like Tut and think he's a great recruiter, but I hope we aren't just doing this because the donor money is behind him. If we have the means, go get the best coach.

Great coaches can cover deficiencies on teams. McCollum just took an undersized group of D2 and MVC guys in the new era to the Elite 8. Obviously Stirtz is great but it just shows how much of a competitive advantage it is to have a guy like McCollum.

We are obviously a school that values continuity and I do think Tuttle would provide that. I'm guessing we will find out today or tomorrow.

It was in the statement on the UNI athletics site. It wasn't quoted but said "she indicated a search was underway". Like I said, I assume it's probably more about assistants to Tuttle at this point. And I agree with DownGoesKansas. We need a veteran on the staff.

Might be nothing, but I did not see PJ on that jet with Jake and Gameli and Sonnen. Maybe they are having him fill that role.

Ugh. We're just going to become the next SIU, aren't we? Good, not great. Never good enough to do anything significant. Guess it was a good run. I feel deflated.

What did you expect? A coach leaves and takes his players with him. It happens everywhere, to everyone and it finally happened to us. Now Franklin gets to mold the program in her image instead of having this big immovable statue for a coach. There's plenty of negatives in losing Jake, but don't lose sight of potential positives.

Jake is a great coach but he is not a big time promoter. UNI would definitely benefit from a promoter of the program to help boost some fan interest.

Maybe he is not loud in public settings, but didn't he shake a lot of money out to get the funding of the Practice Facility started? The lack of continued momentum there (and Dome phase "?") could not have helped.

Jake and PJ are basically attached at the hip. He's going with him.

If it's Tut, you've got have someone that's been an HC. Robbie and Brooks could both make substantially more money than they are making now but I'm not sure either wants the DI recruiting grind.

Watching Jake's press conference. Just so weird seeing him not wear purple. Ugh. I wish him nothing but the best though. He's earned it.

I'm intrigued by the Green rumblings. My concern would be that he left UNI twice & took his son away after the last time. I guess you can't be afraid of losing your coach due to success. That's likely what this would be. And would be a good problem to have. Bringing him in & having Tuttle stay to work w/ the bigs would be ideal.

I would not be surprised if it ends up that way just to be clear.
