I watched the game with someone who has little interest in basketball, let alone either UNI or Iowa basketball. He commented that the announcers were really reaching to try to make Iowa sound better than they were.

when a team is getting thoroughly dominated dont most announcers do the exact same thing?

i can think of exactly zero UNI grads that i know that could do a better job than rick and rob.

you people need to get over it. not everyone is out to get UNI.

yeah, they made it seem Iowa was taking control of the game everytime the Hawkeyes would cut the lead to 11. Whatever, it might bother me more if UNI wasn't obviously a class above Iowa this year.

It is strange that a PSN broadcast was clearly slanted towards Iowa, though.

I'm not in the "out to get us" camp, but the broadcast was really craptastic.

Mac McCausland, who is an Iowa guy, always did a decent job of keeping the broadcast even and provided some actual basketball knowledge. It seems to me like the PSN is Rick's shiny new toy he gets to have fun with without putting much effort into it at all.

I haven't had a chance to listen to the tv broadcast, and I'm not commenting on the quality. However, in the on-air performance category, I could go with Eric "Holy Buckets" Braley!

I agree completely.

Is it just me, or were broadcasts of in-state basketball games 10-12 years ago about 10X better than they are now? Pretty weak IMO.

That along with the fact that about 2 dozen people were able to find this game on TV...

Scott Westerberg who used to be with KWWL. Would be a ton better. Or Steroid Dave. Although I'm not sure he ever graduated, I bet he could do better.
