do you really think that iowa decided "yeah, lets play at the citadel!!!" or do you think it was part of a bigger deal or extenuating circumstances?

you also realize that iowa has more games locked in now, as well as a new coach?

no, no, no. They are scheduling tougher. Expect to see Duke, Kentucky, Louisville or Syracuse, and Gonzaga in CHA next year. They are all lining up to be one and done buy games for the almighty Chicken Hawks.

And no, not all teams have a "handful of cupcakes" every year. It has been proven that UNI does not do that. We buy maybe 1 game a year, often a D-III, but all of the rest are scheduled as home and homes or as 2 for 1's. We also tend not to take buy games. Syracuse was about the only one in recent memory, and it allowed us to buy Morehead State (an NCAA Tournament level team) in return.

No way is Iowa willingly going to enter into home and homes and the won't go on the road unless it is part of a Big 10+2 challenge. They wouldn't even be continuing to do the Iowa State game if they thought they could get away with it. In fact I could see them morphing this Wells Fargo thing into the annual Iowa State-Iowa game every year in a few years once they show that there are really very few UNI or Drake fans coming to Des Moines for this farce and decide to drop us altogether, thereby clearing up yet another home date while being able to claim they went to a "neutral" court for a game.

I stand by my original position. If they don't want to do home and homes with us, then screw em and let em run away with their tails between their fictitious 18th century woodsmen's legs.

the positions are not comparable. the MVC SOS does not guarantee an at-large NCAA berth if UNI's OOC schedule is weak, hence the mandate from Elgin (although UNI was ahead of the curve here anyway).

do you think with the current budget situation that Dannen likes giving up home dates?

I know a home and home series is what everyone wants. But currently it sounds like Iowa is looking at something different, it has been stated no other Big ten teams have home to home contracts every year except nebby/CU. I do not know why Iowa is doing this, I am sure its something out the coaches/players control. I am assuming this decision is coming from the higher ups at Iowa. Barta is probably getting pressure from some booster to have a game in Des Moines Like they did last year.

I looked it up and Coppin State is playing at Iowa this year and I actually talked to a friend of the player who is going to Coppin State and they tried getting games with Iowa, Iowa State, Illinois State, and Illinois so his family could come watch him play.
So say what you want, but it does happen in college sports, sometimes coaches and schools look out for their players.

I hope the series continues, I do not care when or where, just as long as they play each other. Whether it be in Des Moines, Cedar Falls, Northern Ontario, I don't care, I will be there to watch the game, as these next few years they could be very good games.

This whole thing comes down to one old adage. He who loves least gets to call the shots.

Iowa cares less than us whether this game gets played, so they get to call the shots. We can do the same by deciding that we won't play it at all if not in Cedar Falls half the time, but we aren't going to do that. The rest of the discussion is fluff.
